The Cowboys may be looking for more than just a defensive coordinator.

According to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com, the Cowboys defensive coaches will have to interview with the new coordinator to keep their jobs.

The Cowboys are also open to letting the assistants under contract interview with other teams, according to the report.

Such moves speak to possibly changing from a 3-4 front to a 4-3, and also a desire to do something dramatic, even if it’s not the biggest priority.

The Cowboys defense was depleted by injuries, particularly at linebacker. But that apparently didn’t buy fired coordinator Rob Ryan, or his position coaches, any security.
