To say Cutler is a coach killer and is the reason Lovie got fired is ridiculous. Bears were 7-3 last year with him and without him he was 1-5. If he didn’t win some of those games Lovie would have been fired last year. Although Cutler threw some bad picks in some of the losses this year he also won some games. I saw Brees loose at least 2 games with int. That being said I think Emery or any coach he hires would replace Cutler in a second if they had an = or better option, but franchise QBs don’t grow on trees. Bears won 29 of last 42 with Cutler. Some people say Rogers has a bad line is still great. I can accept the fact Cutler isn’t as good as Rogers, Rogers is one of the truly elite but that doesn’t mean with a upgraded offensive line Cutler couldn’t be better.

That “Coach Killer” stuff does not even make any sense. Without Cutler, Lovie would have been fired years ago. Martz showed he was unable to adapt (Offensive line can’t block? Lets call a seven step drop) and Tice had his playcalling questioned all year. How you can pin bad playcalling, Lovie being completely unable to pick a competent OC, and the nearly complete lack of an offensive line on Jay is beyond me.

This hatred of Cutler just seems like some BS sports networks and “experts” (ha) spew, and you meatball fans gobble it up like it’s some sort of gospel. Disgusting, and you show your ignorance when you still clamor on about the same tired nonsense.

Cutler isn’t the problem; the offensive line is the problem. I hope that’s the interviews’ first, second, and final questions all involve how to fix that sieve that has killed Cutler, Forte, and given the wideouts so little time.

Cutler’s record with the has been great, and he’s done nothing to deserve a coach killer label. The Broncos fired Shanny because he was a terrible evaluator of defensive talent and could stop other teams from scoring on them. Lovie got fired because he ignored the giant problem that was the o-line for the past 3 years, and the coaching staff failed to make adjustments on a consistent basis, directly costing the Bears games. They didn’t get fired because of him. The coaches got fired because they both seemed to be on the downside on their effectiveness with their respective teams.

I’m not a Cutler fan but dude didn’t quit in that NFCC, he was legitimately injured. He really wasn’t playing all that well when he went out either.

Cutler doesn’t deserve any blame for his poor OL, receiver corps, or defense (the latter was in Denver). He deserves blame for making bad in game situations worse with his decision making on the field, which he has done since his Denver days. At this point he is who he is. If he’s to stay there, he needs an OC who can manage those situations, just like Brees needs Payton to manage him when he gets pick nutty. He has his favorite QB coach already. He has a lot of talent and he’s not dumb, so he will keep getting chances to achieve. At some point, there’s the law of diminishing returns. We shall see.

Here’s the thing: Bears fans can only complain for so long about not having an offensive line. Stop drafting players who have a historic record of injuries in college…especially O-Linemen. Maybe the McCaskey Family should open up the wallet and pay for proven offensive linemen to come to Chicago. I don’t think Jay Cutler is the answer at QB..either way. He can make all the throws and has a cannon for an arm, but his sour attitude and poor leadership skills don’t express “Franchise QB”. He’s like a modern day Jeff George. Chicago needs to look at RB too, considering Forte is fragile and can’t run between the tackles. He’s a one-cut RB. Feel free to click on the thumbs down button…because clearly you are in denial about your team. They need a lot of help and it starts by getting the RIGHT pieces…not band-aids.

First of all, Jay does not match your assessment of his career, having been to a Pro Bowl, and having led the Bears to an NFC Championship game (and NOT quitting)…He is 29-13 dating back to the last 2 games of ’09, which I am sure a lot of teams would be thrilled with.

Second of all, have you never heard of Tim Tebow?

Whitecastle i fail to understand the epic fail when he is not playing. The Bears were 7-3 when he went down last year and failed to make the playoffs. This year with him playing the whole season they were 7-1 and failed once again. Please spare me any offensive line excuses because A.R. was sacked more than anyone yet still managed to lead the NFL in qb rating.

Ghosts: We’ve seen what happens when Cutler is not playing and it is an epic fail. Yes, the Bears D was fantastic under Smith but without Cutler Smith would have been fired a few years ago.

He didn’t quit. His knee was injured (MCL?). The medical staff said he couldn’t go, so Lovie went with Hanie in the second half of that game. People blame Cutler because his backup wasn’t competent and couldn’t move the team.

First priority has to be fixing that O-line.

It makes no sense to make Jay Cutler-Matt Forte-Brandon Marshall the focal points of the offense, but not have an O-line that protects Cutler, creates holes for Forte, and gives time for Marshall to get open.

That’s not the coaches job – that’s the GM’s.

lol…bless your little heart Cutler-apologist. Even Romo apologists are realistic and hold back or give constructive criticism of their over-achieving undrafted QB from E.Illinois. You Cutler fanboys are hilarious though. He is among the biggest douche in the football world, hasn’t found a teammate he hasn’t thrown under the bus, his Madden pocket presence should be lower than his jersey number, he likes to discuss his teammates contract situation, he is a quitter and you couldn’t find a coach in North America that has anything good to say about him. But gosh darnit, everyone stop piling on Cutler the dead-faced coach killer.

17-31, 1TD, 2ints, 7 sacks, oh but he has such a cool throwing motion.

Orton was better in every way, and $40M cheaper.

If you’re going to quote stats, use real ones. In Cutler’s two full seasons as the Broncos’ starter the team averaged 20 points per game (2007) and 23.1 points per game (2008). Over 30 points per game? You’re just making up numbers. Stop it.
