Jordy Nelson expected to practice Thursday

Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson missed practice again on Wednesday, but coach Mike McCarthy expressed confidence that the team will be at full strength at wide receiver come Saturday’s game against the 49ers.

Nelson wasn’t on the field on Tuesday, either, after limping off the field late in last weekend’s win over the Vikings. McCarthy said after Wednesday’s practice that Nelson’s been “fighting though” his injury and that he expects to get him back to work on Thursday.

Nelson has battled hamstring, ankle and knee issues at various points this season and isn’t likely to be 100 percent again this season. That likely means a more limited role than he’d play in an ideal situation, but the Packers certainly have enough depth at the spot to avoid pushing Nelson too far.

Wide receiver Randall Cobb also missed practice on Wednesday. He’s got the flu so was sent home to rest and there’s no expectation that his status for Saturday is at risk.

    deltaoracle,
How many has Nelson missed this year?

This has to be good news for the 49ers. Even though both of these guys will play Saturday, it can’t be a good thing to be missing practices days before going on the road for a playoff game.

Jennings, Cobb, Jones, Nelson, Finley. They’ve got some dudes who can catch it. Even with a less-than-100% Nelson the Pack will get their yards

Cobb can catch everything thrown his way, even the flu!

Fragile? Really. Im pretty sure this is only the second season out of 5 that Jordy Nelson has missed any games due to injury so at least get your facts straight before you spout off Crownofthehelmet.

That’s ok. Jordy at 75% is still better than any San Fran wideout at 120%.
