Ray is a GREAT player

IMHO, His dance is silly and classless

I appreciate his play on the field, but don't appreciate the "Look at ME" dance.

Have some class - Act like you played in a NFL game before. Act like you have made a tackle in the NFL before. Act like you have made a TD in the NFL before.

Team comes before all players

Following a Super Bowl XXXIV party in Atlanta on January 31, 2000, a fight broke out between Lewis and his companions and another group of people, resulting in the stabbing deaths of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar. Lewis and two companions, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting, were questioned by Atlanta police, and 11 days later the three men were indicted on murder and aggravated-assault charges. The white suit Lewis was wearing the night of the killings has never been found. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard alleged the blood-stained suit was dumped in a garbage bin outside a fast food restaurant.[36]

Lewis' attorneys, Don Samuel and Ed Garland, of the Atlanta law firm Garland, Samuel & Loeb, negotiated a plea agreement with Howard, where the murder charges against Lewis were dismissed in exchange for his testimony against Oakley and Sweeting, and his guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice.[12] Lewis admitted he gave a misleading statement to police on the morning after the killings. Superior Court Judge Alice D. Bonner sentenced Lewis to 12 months' probation, the maximum sentence for a first-time offender,[37] and he was fined $250,000 by the NFL, which was believed to be the highest fine levied against an NFL player for an infraction not involving substance abuse.[38] Under the terms of the sentence, Lewis could not use drugs or alcohol during the duration of the probation.

Oakley and Sweeting were acquitted of the charges in June 2000.[39] No other suspects have ever been arrested for the crime.

On April 29, 2004, Lewis reached a settlement with four-year-old India Lollar, born months after the death of her father Richard, pre-empting a scheduled civil proceeding. Lewis also reached an undisclosed settlement with Baker's family.

Why did he run? Where is the white suit? Why did he pay off the victims' families? A leader? Give me a break. He knows what happened and it makes me sick to see the accoldaes he gets for his character. Good riddence Ray.

Reggie Wayne apparently was never taught that real winners lose with class and not sour grapes...take a clue dude, this wasn't about the Colts, it was for the fans in Baltimore and throughout the league who love that dance and recognize what a great leader on the football field and in the community Ray Lewis has been. The league is full of players who have made mistakes as rookies or early in their career however, Ray Lewis has lifted himself up and has used his celebrity helping others. Just like Muhamammad Ali aka Cassius Clay, Ray Lewis's charisma and showmanship will be criticized by small minded bigots who don't know any better, He is one of the all time great linebackers and will be missed by players, fans, and, most of all, the game. We love you #52, thanks for the memories Ray-Ray, and, thanks for that very awesome dance!

Ray was not “acquitted” of murder charges because he was never tried for murder. Again, you people are uninformed. Ray was with two friends and there were other people there who were friends of his friends. It’s those other people that were supposedly involved in the murder, so I guess through degrees of separation Ray may have been involved.

Tell me, when’s the last time someone was convicted of murder for knowing the murderer, let alone just knowing somebody else that knew the murderer?

Get your facts straight people!

He wasn't disrespectful to Wayne or the Colts; he was disrespectful to the game.

I swear, that dance got him into the HOF. The whole "look a me; I'm great because I say I'm great" routine worked for a number of other players too--Chad Johnson and Warren Sapp, to be specific.

Not saying Lewis didn't have a good career, but he was great for his first 5 years and just good after that (with the exception of 2006, where he had a very good season), yet he makes every pro-bowl and will make the HOF because of it.

Ray Lewis has been in the league for 3 years longer than Reggie... Maybe Ray should pay a little more attention before he runs his mouth.

What I found disrespectful is how instead of going over and congratulating his long time former coach, Pagano, on his successful battle with cancer, Ray decided to do some stupid dance like the classless fool he is.

Ravenator: “Nothing to be proud about” you are bar none the biggest idiot on this site. every steelers article is constantly followed by a comment from you, retard!! and I suppose that 3 super bowl appearances in the last 8 seasons means nothing. I suppose that ending the ravens season in the playoffs in two of those seasons means nothing, and i suppose SIX LOMBARDIS IS NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF.

Btw i want to fight you. i promise not to stab you and a friend to death, but i can think of nothing more pleasing than to bash your face into a bloody pulp.

you are the reason why ravens fans hate steeler fans 6 championship congrates i do know you did buy one against the seahawks but again show some respect i show respect un like you i think the bus should be in the hof and he was a great rb but dudes grown the f up its a game stop you bitching and crying oh yeah who do you play next week you dont see you next year oh yeah 5 straight years of playoffs with a qb and a coach you steeler fans say suck

Ray was not "acquitted" of murder charges because he was never tried for murder. Again, you people are uninformed. Ray was with two friends and there were other people there who were friends of his friends. It's those other people that were supposedly involved in the murder, so I guess through degrees of separation Ray may have been involved.

Tell me, when's the last time someone was convicted of murder for knowing the murderer, let alone just knowing somebody else that knew the murderer?

Get your facts straight people! You sound like bitter fans who've had the misfortune of your teams getting shut down by Ray and his D for 11 of the last 17 years that his D was top ten and 8 of those 11 that it was top 3.

Ray was the best player at his position of all time, no argument about it. Stop discrediting him with erroneous facts.

Furthermore, come down to Baltimore and ask anyone you see what they thought about Ray's last dance. I guarantee you they loved it. He did it for the fans, plain and simple, so quit your whining and spend that energy petitioning your team's GM to find a player with half as much talent, leadership and heart as Ray Lewis.

If a hypocrite is someone who makes a mistake one night, and then works to make himself better/NOT shying away from talking about it ever since, how would he not be a hypocrite? By continuing to make mistakes since the first one he made?
---------------------------------------------------------

Brittany,or Tiffany, or whatever chick name you're using; are you SERIOUS????

This "mistake" meant that two people are DEAD, as in "not alive anymore".

Glad that you think since Ray and his buddies haven't made that same "mistake" since, we should all just forget about this little matter of two dead people.

Brittany…..he is a hypocrite because he preaches leadership when at the one time in his life when he was called on to be a true leader and hero he fled. Bottom line.

---------------

OK, and? You never once made a mistake, even a horrible one, and tried to change yourself afterward? It's like you are giving him MORE flack for the fact he has tried to be a totally different person from the person he was that night when he made the mistake.

What does Ray Lewis have to do to be acceptable or not a hypocrite in your eyes? Does every other phrase out of his mouth have to be, "I am sorry for Atlanta"? If he kept bringing it up and saying he was sorry, you would be saying, "Stop telling us and show us."

I will always root for Ray Lewis. It's hard not to when all the arguments against him are illogical.

Ray's bloody suit was never found, nor the bloody knife with the stabbers prints. he was heard threatening everyone in his limo to keep their mouths shut. he rolled on his "boys" and he testified against them. he is not a man, he is a coward. he can talk his "leader" b.s. all he wants but the fact is that he bought his way out of prison, and anyone who is okay with that deserves worse than what the two unfortunate souls in Atlanta got.
