I listed a bunch of guys who were swings and misses for other clubs, then got hired by the San Diego Chargers, and then all got fired by the San Diego Chargers.

My point was purely focused on the Chargers – not the good teams like the Patriots, Broncos, Colts and Giants.

Yeah, because Belichick didn’t win after being fired from Cleveland, and Coughlin never won after being fired in Jacksonville, and Dungy never won after being fired in Tampa, Shannahan never won after being fired by the Raiders.

It should be noted for those not in the know – which probably doesn’t include many who read PFT – that this is the son of Jim “Playoffs?” Mora.

The fact is the Chargers have an ample history of hiring day old bagels for head coaches, that they end up subsequently firing themselves.

Ohhhhhhhhhh the Chargers and their re-treads.

They brought in Bobby Ross after he got fired by the Lions. Ross then got fired in San Diego too.

You might want to revisit your Bobby Ross history, considering that he was on the Lions AFTER coaching the Chargers… And took us to our first and only Super Bowl…

This smells of Spanos doing Mora a favor by floating his name just so he can get more jack at UCLA…it makes no sense from an NFL perspective

Spanos took some terrible advice here by even including his name in the search

The head coach’s job should be to oversee the entire staff and have a total view of the entire team, and not just get all caught up in one aspect of the team (tunnel vision).

I think one of the reason that Norv has failed as a head coach, is because he seemed to be too preoccupied with the offensive. I think one of the reasons that Rex Ryan has regressed as the Jets head coach, is because he seemed to only care about defense.

I love taking shots at the Falcons as much as the next guy but even I thought that was dumb.

Every time Mora has had Knapp as a OC or position coach, Mora has lost his job, because of Knapp and they underperformed.

Hummmm, sounds like UCLA should hire Knapp, if Mora stays. This way the rest of the Pac12 could benefit from the loss of recruits to UCLA, once the kids figure that out as well.

They brought in Bobby Ross after he got fired by the Lions. Ross then got fired in San Diego too.

They then brought in Marty Schottenheimer after he had gotten canned by the Browns, Chiefs and Redskins. Schottenheimer later got the boot from the Chargers as well.

Still after that, they invited Norval Turner, after Norv had flamed out with the Redskins and the Raiders. Of course, the Chargers got rid of Norv too.

And now they’re sniffing around Jim Mora, who has been fired by the Falcons and the Seahawks.

What is it about the San Diego Charger organization? It’s like every name coach who’s been terminated has some Svengali-like allure to them. Something about that whole definition of insanity seems to resonate here.

Mora prefers to coach at the college level. Even in his days as ATLANTA’S Head coach he wanted to he a NCAA D1 Head coach.
