Bieniemy could be running backs coach in Kansas City

Eric Bieniemy left an NFL job with the Vikings two years ago to become the offensive coordinator at the University of Colorado.  Now, he could be heading back to the NFL.

John Henderson of the Denver Post reports that Bieniemy “is under strong consideration” to become running backs coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The move would reunite Bieniemy with head coach Andy Reid; Bieniemy was a player in Philly during Reid’s first year as head coach there.  It also would bring Bieniemy back together with Brad Childress, who hired Bieniemy in Minnesota and who is expected to join Reid’s staff as an adviser.

Bieniemy’s offense at Colorado finished 116th in the nation.

Still one of the coolest last names ever in football

I don’t understand why he’s so highly regarded when he couldn’t coach up AP to be an every down back. All that natural talent and he still comes out on 3rd down.

Offensive coordinator – 116th in the nation?
Hell, hire ME, or any bum under a bridge for that matter. At least there – there is no track record of failure.
He was a good player – but that has little to no bearing on ability to coach.
I wouldn’t hire ANYONE that was on Colorado’s staff.

I wouldn’t want him. The guy was an a-hole to AP here in MN.

Eric “Sleeping with” Bienemy. One of the greatest Bermanisms of all time.

Why does Andy choose to be mediocre?

I’m pretty sure Jamaal Charles doesn’t need too much coaching

I hate Chris Berman, but I can still remember cracking up when he called him “Eric ‘Sleeping With’ Bieniemy” during a highlight of him scoring.

Hope this is a good sign to the coaching staff…

Sure do hope that they can land Monte Kiffin…He would be awesome leading the Chiefs Defense…Maybe they can be back at #1 like they was in the 90’s

Why does Andy Reid need a running back coach when he calls 50 pass plays a game and Andy does not run the football?
I know, someone has to teach the running backs how to pass block.

So many haters, as if any of you know even half about football as Reid forgets in a day. he went to five straight championship games and a super bowl, in one of the toughest citys in the country. He knows how to put a staff together, he is 22nd all time, haters keep hating and he will keep winning, may take a few yrs in K.C., but if we win 130 games in the next 14 yrs Im happy. Maybe this time he wont have a qb thats puking in the hudle in the super bowl and wins one.

Ranked 116th out of how many… 110? In all seriousness that offense was atrocious! There was high school teams with much better offenses.
