Suh settles car-crash lawsuit

For NFL players, the offseason provides an opportunity to rest.  To relax.  To recover.

And, in some cases, to negotiate financial settlements of pending litigation.

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has accomplished at least the latter.  According to FOX 12 in Oregon, Suh has resolved a $1 million lawsuit arising from a December 2011 car accident in Portland, which occurred while he was serving a two-game suspension following a Thanksgiving stomping incident (not to be confused with a Thanksgiving crotch-kicking incident).

Terms of the settlement weren’t disclosed; they rarely are.  And it’s no surprise the case was resolved.  Suh’s lawyer acknowledged in the aftermath of the filing that Suh owed the plaintiff, Saadia Van Winkle, something for injuries suffered in the crash.  The parties disagreed, however, on the magnitude of the damages.
