Trestman has told the Montreal media (last year during the Indy interviews) that he would only leave for a head coach position in the NFL, not a coordinator… Perhaps that’s why he’s not drawing interest for an OC job: He’s not listening…

I really don’t think this article does Marc Trestman justice.

I can’t even count all the QBs who had career seasons and played lights out under his tutelage.

49ers had the #1 offense with Trestman as OC with Rice setting the Receiving record.
Raiders had the #1 offense. With Gannon winning MVP.

All those Miami Hurricane QBs he developed. Trestman’s a really good football coach.

Either of those teams would be lucky to get him. His resume in the NFL alone should have led to an NFL job years ago, but it’s always more about who you know than anything you do.

Anybody who could max Jake Plummer’s ability out (and yes, that happened when he was his coordinator in AZ, not under Shanahan) along with make Scott Mitchell not only look like an NFL QB, but run an offense that went to the playoffs, is good at the coaching thing and deserves a shot more than some of these stiffs I’ve seen get jobs recently.

Just get the train rolling Cleveland. Sick of waiting around for something to happen. It is at least 2 to 3 years before we expect any type of real turnaround and Trestman seems like a more proven commodity than Chip Kelly.

I am a CFL fan, & what most impressed me about Trestman was that, unlike most rookie CFL coaches, he seemed to get it figured out right from the start. I don’t think Tebow is really linked to him other than he may have tutored him at some point. The Alouettes just have him on their negotiation list for CFL rights in the event he is not picked up by another NFL team & still wants an opportunity to play QB. Currently he could not supplant the starter in MTL but he is nearing the end of his career.

I am actually hoping the Browns sign him as their head coach. Great football pedigree, has coached the game for a long time. I’d vote for Tressman.

How can he be a retread? He never was a HC in the NFL,He is from UM actually was a QB there and coached many good QB’s, when you make a dumb blanket statement at least have a reason why or something to back it up,he’s at least as worthy as say Chan Gailey, Mularkey , Norv Turner etc….

I know there will be a dozen posts on here dismissing his CFL experience as irrelevant, but it’s not.

He has coached a professional football organization to championships in two out of the last five years.

I think that, combined with 17 years of experience as an NFL assistant plus his history developing young QBs makes him more than qualified to be considered.

And they’ve been to multiple – you got some coaches that can’t even get a whiff of what a super bowl smells like! Look up Marty Schottenheimer!

I rather have a coach who’s been to mulptiple championships than none.

All he does is build winners. Maybe they fall short in the playoffs, but as a Dolphins fan I would take 12-4 and a playoff appearance any time.

Do you just relate to Trestman since you both once were lawyers or do you really believe the guy that flamed out of the NFL as an assistant is going to get a HC job?

It’s also now very clear Tebow is destined for a Flutie kind of path.

Marc Trestman was the Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator in 2002 when Rich Gannon was named League MVP and Raiders went to the Superbowl.
