Broncos head to postseason healthy

Porter AP

As the Denver Broncos prepare for the first playoff game of the Peyton Manning era, only one player is out due to injury.

Cornerback Tracy Porter has been scratched due to the lingering effects of a concussion he suffered against the Browns on December 23.

Six other Broncos are listed as probable; all participated fully in practice all week.

Porter, who was signed via free agency from the Saints, has been supplanted in the starting lineup by second-year cornerback Chris Harris, who was an undrafted free agent in 2011.

Well, that takes away one excuse for losing the game!

  2. thegreatgabbert says: Jan 11, 2013 2:10 PM

They’re all healthy as a horse.

Peyton Manning is the best “regular season” quarterbak. The post season is just not his forte.

  4. threatlevelbob says: Jan 11, 2013 2:12 PM

    @whatnojets

There are no excuses for losing this game, according to everyone outside of Ravens fans, and even most Ravens fans realize this isn’t going to be easy.

  5. hater79 says: Jan 11, 2013 2:13 PM

Wow, the Redskins can’t even head into an offseason with a healthy roster.

  6. pgh15212 says: Jan 11, 2013 2:13 PM

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady own the Ravens. There is zero chance the ravens go to the dance.

No matter, MegaHead will lose this game.

Unfortunately Manning is 0-3 in Playoff games under 40 degrees, with (1) TD and (7) Interceptions. Tomorrow’s high temperature is 17 degrees in Denver. 14 at game time. Single digits with wind chill.

  12. golonger says: Jan 11, 2013 2:22 PM

they dont need any excuses…they have Peyton Manning….which was the Colts excuse for years!

  13. stealthjunk says: Jan 11, 2013 2:24 PM

More like that takes away one excuse for Denver not winning by 30 points. You’re lucky they let off the gas up 31-3 last time.

  14. 3fingerlenny says: Jan 11, 2013 2:29 PM

I want to see Ray Lewis run in that Denver air.

  18. millivanillididntlipsync says: Jan 11, 2013 2:38 PM

The Ravens spent their inspiration to win already last week… It’s gonna be a sad way to see Ray Lewis finish his career from a Peyton Manning beat down.

the ravens are talking about how theyre healthy but we had injuries too, most notably chris kuper. plus DJ Williams had just come off a suspension so hes had more time to adjust to Del Rio s defefense Were gonna be pumped for this game, peytons first as a Broncos, he won’t let us come out flat. The last game was so vad cbs switched it in the middle of the third. Im sorry but a couple players aint gonna change that much. oh did i mention that game was in Baltimore? Go Broncos

  20. deathonwings410 says: Jan 11, 2013 2:56 PM

Should be a good game, Can’t Wait!

  21. stealthjunk says: Jan 11, 2013 2:59 PM

To those of you from other teams complaining about the Broncos not having any injuries, it’s only because others have been knocked out and placed on IR rather than the weekly injury report. Several starters including Willis McGahee (RB), JD Walton (C), Ty Warren (DT), Joe Mays (MLB), and even Tracy Porter (CB) have been knocked out for the year. Plus Chris Kuper has barely played this year — he’s only back now because the Broncos advanced so far.

The difference between the Broncos and your teams is that the Broncos haven’t complained or let the injuries affect their play. Instead, they’ve taken advantage of their depth at these positions (CB Chris Harris, RB Knowshon Moreno, C Dan Koppen, DT Derek Wolfe, MLB Keith Brooking, etc.) due to their depth and kept chugging. This isn’t a team that throws out its $$$ on garbage, me-first free agents at the expense of its depth chart — this team spends its money wisely and has very solid backups to show for it.

“Peyton Manning is the best “regular season” quarterbak. The post season is just not his forte.”

    Confusing Peyton with Matt Ryan.

  23. trubroncfan07 says: Jan 11, 2013 3:30 PM

All you Ravens fans running your mouths make sure to come back on here on Saturday afternoon and post stupid comments after you get spanked!

  24. murf17 says: Jan 11, 2013 3:31 PM

To all those saying that Manning will lose again in the post season and throw picks and blah blah blah, do you really think this team is like any team he had in Indy. For 13 years Manning had to do it all for Indy and I mean do it all. If you actually paid attention during that time the main criticism every year was “can’t stop the run” and every year they would lose because if Manning was not spot on they had no chance of winning. Denver’s D is nasty and they will do to Baltimore exactly what they did last time. Flacco was throwing pop ups against the Colts D and not Champ Bailey (pro bowler). The final thing that needs to be addressed is watching “sugar” try to chase people around the middle of the field. The squirrel dance was great and your career was awesome but it ends on Saturday.

  25. golonger says: Jan 11, 2013 3:33 PM

Sorry..no confusion…Joe Flacco has a better post-season winning percentage than Manning. Peyton Mannng that is! LOL. Ravens will win this game for 2 reasons…Manning is over-rated and the Broncos are over-rated. Nuff said

  26. golonger says: Jan 11, 2013 3:36 PM

Oh really..Manning had to do it all? Then why were the Colts 11-6 this year with “no talent”? Also, Broncos made it to the playoffs last year with NO QB. When Mannng losses tomorrow, he will have gone exacly as far as TEBOW did. Gee Manning doesnt seem like much of an MVP. His old team faired about as well without him and his new team hasnt done any better! LOL

  27. crownofthehelmet says: Jan 11, 2013 3:37 PM

I’m thinking we’ll get to see that lost look on Flacco’s face by halftime. Though he’ll actually look smart standing next to Caldwell.

  28. steeltuff says: Jan 11, 2013 3:44 PM

I’m not a Broncos fan, but even with the NFC’s dominance this year, Denver has as a better chance of winning the SB than anyone else does. They have a good defense, they can run the ball, and they have Peyton coordinating the offense. Baltimore will be gone from the playoff picture tomorrow. Their SB window is closing. Ray will be gone, Ed is close to going, and Joe is no elite QB.

  29. sariff420 says: Jan 11, 2013 4:00 PM

Go Longer….the Colts team this year is completely different than the Peyton Manning led ones.

Manning has taken the Broncos as far as Tebow did in 16 games. It took tebow led broncos 17. That right there is big. Oh yeah the Broncos have won 5 more games this year than last years broncos in one less game. Hmm…sounds like a huge improvement. Watch some football and go deep. Throat that is.

  30. bunkmcnulty says: Jan 11, 2013 4:00 PM

18 degree high temp tomorrow. Forecast for surgically repaired necks to be very brittle in those temps.

Think about folks, no wins with a healthy neck in temps under 40. Temps in the teens…Peyton, can you hear our footsteps coming? You better.

Broncos better protect Peyton well. A good head to head by a free runner would be well worth the 15 yards.

Better find something more than a glove on throwing hand to help with this.

Overrated? How do you explain the 34-17 BEATDOWN on the Ravens home turf? If any team is overrated its the Ravens… NUFF SAID!

  32. eaglesfan8 says: Jan 11, 2013 4:10 PM

Ironic that Tracy Porter is inactive in a post-season game featuring Peyton

  33. footballfan01 says: Jan 11, 2013 4:17 PM

typical classless Ravens fans always wish an injury on the opposing teams players cause they know it’s the only way they can win…….

  35. bunkmcnulty says: Jan 11, 2013 4:41 PM

Injuries are part of the game “Bs.” I am sorry to expose the reality of that to you. Like it or not, people who have injuries or conditions are tested every week in the NFL.

I am so sorry to state the obvious and burst your bubble.

Hey everybody. Don’t say anything that Peyton’s neck in extreme cold could be a target. Part of the game my friend.

  36. necr0philia says: Jan 11, 2013 5:02 PM

Not a fan of either team but the Pizza Man will Deliver 2morrow!! I see Two Birds Flying home for the Winter. ( Ravens–Seachickens )

  37. atwatercrushesokoye says: Jan 11, 2013 5:15 PM

It’s funny and telling that Ravens fans would rather talk about Manning’s neck injury (supposedly gonna be a problem all year, yet to pop up) Manning’s history in playoff games below certain temperatures….guess you didn’t look at his all-time history in the cold (which is a winning record) or that they’ll be taking cheap shots on Manning etc, yet at no time do they try to compare the two teams or claim that they’re a better team than the Broncos. Denver beat you down at home last month, Denver has more talent on offense, defense and special teams and tomorrow Denver is going to go out and end your season. You can talk about the all the pie in the sky things you want but the reality is tomorrow you’ll be thinking about who the Ravens will draft and complaining about how teams shouldn’t have to play in the cold or at an altitude above sea level.

  38. siknutty says: Jan 11, 2013 5:23 PM

The ravens are a crap team playing for an even crappier city. The ravens are going down tomorrow.

  39. golonger says: Jan 11, 2013 5:23 PM

sariff420 , sorry, the Colts team this year is NOT completely different this year…if anything they are WORSE than they have been..also, the Broncos are at the same spot now as they were last year..the only difference is the Broncos were in the worst division in football and had one of the EASIEST schedules. They have beaten 1 team with a winning record. Sorry, you are totallt WRONG

  40. golonger says: Jan 11, 2013 5:26 PM

Broncos fans are the most fairweather, uneducated fans in football. They thought they had a qb in Tebow. Gee, only Broncos fans would be stupid enough to think Tebow is a starting QB and actually put up signs for him to keep his job. They are also clueless enough to think they will win tomorrow!

  41. malvaren18 says: Jan 11, 2013 5:35 PM

Ravens are done there is no point of talking about them, we should concentrate our energy on the Patriots vs Bronco’s AFC championship that is going to be the game that is going to determine who wins the Super Bowl this year.

  42. randomguy9999 says: Jan 11, 2013 5:51 PM

the Peyton haters are out….. hell I hate him too for all those freakin commercials….

problem is: he’s playing in top career form, in his first year with a new team, coming off an entire season out injured….

these haters who counted him as washed up in week two are eating crow big time…

and anyone thinking he’s just gonna fold now is underestimating him big time….

hate him? yup I do, but I won’t bet against him…. the Broncs are gonna stomp….

  43. mimitaroo says: Jan 11, 2013 6:34 PM

They had a dead easy schedule playing in the AFC West.

They faced 3 good healthy teams this year and got beat down every time.

It’s well documented Peyton isn’t as good in post season as regular season.

The one super bowl he did win, he was matched up against REX GROSSMAN. Think about that for a minute.

  44. tonyugoh says: Jan 11, 2013 6:43 PM

Hopefully we get to hear Elway or Pat Bowlen hand the Lombardi trophy to Peyton and say “this one’s for Peyton!”

  45. nite2al says: Jan 11, 2013 7:19 PM

Peyton was a nice little story this year, but it’s over! Ravens have a new offensive mindset and Flacco will deliver. Ravens are the best at looking at film and correcting mistakes from previous games. I am so glad the Broncos won in the first meeting…they have nothing they can do better, but Rice, Reed and Flacco will improve. In the end, the B-more blitz will be to much Manning; mark my words!!!!!

big ravens fan here…personally i think denver is a very good team. i think tomorrows game will be a lot closer than the last time the two teams played for lots of reasons. no matter what its been a very good year for both teams..looking forward to a great game and the better team tomorrow will win

To the sane Raven fans I wish you luck in ending your string of no SB appearances. To the trolls you have my pity for the shallow existence you have…and the shame you bring to the good fans.
