All Dallas needs to add now is two pro bowl safeties, outside linebacker and tackle for a great Tampa 2. I think Lovie would have been a better choice, especially as interim head coach mid-season.

We go from a 3-4 to a 4-3, but we didn’t have enough quality linemen to run a 3-4?

Brandon Carr may be smart enough to play the “tampa 2″, but Claiborne scored a 4 on the wonderlic test before the draft.

As long as Jerry Jones is making all the personnel decisions, it doesn’t matter who the coaches are, or who the quarterback is. Payton Manning couldn’t make the playoffs with this team. In fact, he couldn’t finish the season behind that o-line. Romo’s mobility is the only reason they didn’t set an NFL record for sacks allowed.

The Cowboys won’t win another Super Bowl while Jerry Jones is alive. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is.

Tampa 2 was relevant about a decade ago. I have major concerns with how offenses in the Pac 12 rolled up Monte and his USC defense. If you can’t stop college defenses in 2012, how you going to stop NFL offenses in 2013?

All dumb judgement passed there are quite a few Tampa 2 defenses ran around the league that is just the base front, not meaning every play is all zones and it does work and Kiffin had succeeded with it and will again with the Cowboys

Larry Lacewell. Wow. I haven’t heard that name since he was one of Barry Switzer’s sycophants at Oklahoma 30 years ago. Back then, one of the primary things that got you a job on Ol’ Beady Eyes’ staff was how hot your wife was (and from what I heard, whether she’d sleep with the coach).

But, if one of Ol’ Barry and JJ’s buddies from their Arkansas days says something is perfect, it must be perfect.

Personally, I’ll reserve judgment until I see how Kiffin fits these square peg players into the round holes of his defensive philosophy.

Could be a big mistake if present key defensive players can’t (won’t) make the adjustment to the Tampa2 and all it involves.

Kiffin is Tampa2, but rarely uses anything else. Maybe some minor variations.

It’s still alive and well in Chicago.

Are the Cowboys going after Marinelli also?

Good thing they’ve figured out what do with their injury prone NT. Now lets decide what to do with Ware on 1st and 2nd down, and is Lee a 4-3 Mike or Will. Maybe they should have stuck with a system that fit the players.

I hope far more stock was placed on Kiffin’s coaching with the Bucs as opposed to USC. The Bucs had a dominant defense for a decade plus, with a dozen pro bowl players and at least a few soon to be hall of fame members. Kiffin at USC; not so good, in fact, the defense was a flat out disappointment.

As a Buc fan, I love the guy for really building that all time great Buc defense. It’s not often a style of defense becomes so successful and copied that it becomes named after the team who defined it (Tampa 2). I didn’t like how the team collapsed right around the time Kiffin announced he would join his son in the college ranks, but the man is and always will be a Tampa Bay legend.
