Agreed with everything else – but this…
Nick probably isn’t as good in coverage as Erik – but his power and what not at the line of scrimmage opened up a ton of opportunities for Clay Matthews (who had like 9 sacks in the 1st 5 games this year).

That “Bad” Vikings team had won 4 in a row before that and were 9 – 6 before that game! But hey, you might be right, that kinda thing raises doubts.
So what does that say about your Ninerz getting blown out by the SeaCrows a week earlier, and manhandled by the Cardinals for the 1st half of that game? Not to mention giving nearly 30 points to the Pats in the 2nd half, I’d say there’s some doubt there too!

Do not argue history with Packers fans. They know it. They have the video of all games.

1996 Don Beebe was not down by contact. There was also no call when Robert Brooks was injured at the line of scrimmage.

1998 Even Steve Young admits Jerry Rice fumbled but after all those games felt the Niners ought to have at least one turn to win even if a bad call.

Watch for the Packers to set the tone early as they did in the Jan 6th 1996 playoff game with Craig Newsome’s fumble return or Gilbert Brown’s sack of Jeff Garcia on the first play of the game Jan 13th 2002.

This will probably be the best playoff game because the winner will the NFC representative in the Super Bowl.

Sherrod was never handed the job, he was expected to earn it, which is a pretty far cry from calling him their starting LT. Besides that, he hasn’t shown much, even during the brief moments he has been healthy.

Niners have barely had to use their rookies. Pack has a number of key contributors among their rookies, and they’re well-seasoned now. Niners are very tough and deservedly favorites. But few gave GB a chance in Houston either.

It was Sherrod’s job till his leg was snapped. Newhouse has been playing in his stead since last year.

Sherrod was on the PUP, still couldn’t come back and was IR’d.

You mean the one right after Jerry Rice DIDN”T catch a ball that was erroniously called a completion. That was a blatantly blown call that had a lot to do with implementation of instant replay. If properly called an incompletion, Packers win and continue on for another SB.

Jarrett Bush was their starting CB. He’s probably their number 6 CB now because they’d move Woodson back to CB before putting Bush back there. Mike Neal was suspended, he’s back and playing well. Casey Hayward was buried on the depth chart, he’s a R.O.Y candidate now. Brad Jones is playing better than his predecessor at ILB. Evan Dietrich-Smith is better than Jeff Saturday who played poorly in the opener. Erik Walden is probably better than Nick Perry at this stage in their careers.

The Patriots provided the blueprint on how to move the ball on the 49ers (and, indirectly, Chip Kelly)… hurry up no huddle possession passes, which the Packers are fully capable of… tire out the Niners D-line where their rush is no longer effective.
Aaron Rodgers will play with a chip on his shoulder and when he is mad, opposing defenses have no chance (example #1: Houston game. Rodgers was pissed off all week then showed it on the field).
Should be a great game.

Here’s a quick handicapping lesson folks:

-Home team = Niners
-Better Defense = Niners
-Better run game = Niners
-Better special teams = slight edge to the Pack
-Better passing game = Pack
-Who won the last matchup = Niners

By my math, that makes 4 advantages for the Niners to the Pack’s 2.

Good to see all the classy FortyWhiner fans on here! Hey- it’s going to be a great matchup, regardless of who moves on and who goes home. Fact of the matter is, throw out the first game between these two teams. Both teams look different today on paper and on the field. The Packers started the season 2-3 but finished strong. 49ers? Not so much… because of injuries to BOTH Smiths. I hear Aldon has an injured shoulder and we all know Justin w/ his tricept issue. As for Kaepernick- GB knows how to handle the mobile QB. They handled Vick pretty well in the ’10 post season. Webb was just an appetizer. GB seems to be flying in under the radar this year- and now the ‘underdog’ tag. If i’m coach McCarthy- i’m watching the 49er-Rams game tape. They battled hard twice, while the Pack spanked the Rams. Good luck to both teams… but it’ll all come down to skillz! GO PACK GO!

The Pack is going to break The Stick over their knee… then Niners fans have all spring and summer to wonder ‘what if’ Alex Smith remained their QB. He was a major reason the Niners won in week 1 and I’ll take a SB MVP over someone making his 8th NFL start.
Way more pressure on the Niners, now everyone will watch Rodgers lay down the law.
No excuses from this Packers fan whatever happens… too bad the 2 best teams in the NFC have to meet in the divisional round instead of the championship.
