Until today, Michael Vick’s 119 rushing yards in the 2004 playoffs were the most any quarterback had ever had in a postseason game in NFL history.
Today, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick obliterated that record.
Midway through the third quarter, Kaepernick has 163 yards on 12 rushes against the Packers, including a 20-yard touchdown that gave the 49ers their first points of the game, and a 56-yard touchdown that gave the 49ers a 31-24 lead. Kaepernick has an outside shot at not only the quarterback rushing record, but also Eric Dickerson’s all-time record of 248 rushing yards in a postseason game.
Kaepernick is also throwing the ball well, and the 49ers are giving the Packers’ defense all kinds of problems. If there was any doubt before, there’s no doubt now: Jim Harbaugh made the right call when he benched Alex Smith and gave the ball to Kaepernick.
