Getty ImagesThe Friday night report that the Rams hired Rob Ryan to be their next defensive coordinator has been denied by Ryan.
“I’m on a beach and have talked to nobody and have no comment,” Ryan said when reached by Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.
When Ryan was fired on Tuesday, he boasted that he’d have a new job within five minutes. It’s now been more than 5,000 minutes since Ryan said that, and as he has made clear, he still hasn’t found a new job.
But Ryan may have a job on the Rams’ staff if he wants it. The report from Brian Costello of the New York Post that the Rams hired Ryan appears to be premature, but several reports have said that Rams coach Jeff Fisher is interested in adding Ryan to his staff. Some reports have said Ryan is the front runner to become the Rams’ next defensive coordinator.
But first he needs to get back from the beach.

The holdup is that he apparently has a tattoo of Gregg Williams wearing a Tony Romo jersey, which is kind of awkward at this point.

He’s on the beach contemplating to take the D C job or be the new bar boy at the beach resort that he’s at.
All of the fat jokes aside, this would be a good hire for the Rams. After enduring the Williams circus, Rob Ryan will be a walk in the park. (even if he does get winded).
Fisher played for Buddy in Chicago, everyone saw this one coming a mile away. Rob’s defense was not the problem in Dallas. (#9).

Add this to the list of either bad or premature rumors. With a batting average like this over the last two weeks, there’s no point to paying any attention to the “first and exclusive club” until this stops.

And what does this say about Fisher, particularly in light of his previous hire, Gregg Williams? Sounds like an insecure coach overreaching on questionable talent again.
If the media would ignore the Ryan brothers, or at the minimum focus on holding them accountable for all their stupid predictions and bravado about how good they are……..then I think they would fade away. But hardly a day goes by where the media doesn’t put them front and center. Their ole’ man Buddy was the same way, just a family of blowhards.

Good call by Fisher, who has known Ryan since his (Fisher’s) playing days in Chgo and certainly shares defensive philosophies. Rams are improving.

Good Luck to the Rams if Ryan gets the gig. You’ll have a DC who constantly reminds everyone that he’s the best in the business while your defense never makes a big play at a key moment, is in the bottom 20 percent of the league in turnovers, can’t remember if they need 9,10, 11 or 12 men on the field as you’re left wondering why the results on the field never match the bluster and bravado coming from the DC. Ryan was hilarious to listen to but, in the end, he was only spare to fair.

I would hate to be a fly on the wall in the Ryan household when Rex and Rob were growing up. I thought Buddy was loud and obnoxious. It turns out that he raised two obnoxious kids in Rex and Rob.
If it’s the Rams that leaked the story that he was going there, shame on them. They should have known Ryan would say something to try and turn it into a circus.
If it’s Ryan’s agent who leaked it and I’m the owner of the Rams, I’m calling him this morning and saying “tell your boy he can stay on the beach as long as he wants, we’re hiring someone else”.

He’s had a Top 10 defense 1 time in his career (’06 Raiders) and even they were ranked 18th in points – otherwise he hasn’t even cracked the top 15. Why does anybody this guy is good?

I’m just glad the Cowboys didn’t make it to the post season or something and ruin Ryan’s vacation plans. But he made reservations before the season started knowing they weren’t going any where in the post season.
