Rob Ryan: I’m on a beach, haven’t accepted Rams job

Dallas Cowboys v Philadelpia Eagles Getty Images

The Friday night report that the Rams hired Rob Ryan to be their next defensive coordinator has been denied by Ryan.

I’m on a beach and have talked to nobody and have no comment,” Ryan said when reached by Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.

When Ryan was fired on Tuesday, he boasted that he’d have a new job within five minutes. It’s now been more than 5,000 minutes since Ryan said that, and as he has made clear, he still hasn’t found a new job.

But Ryan may have a job on the Rams’ staff if he wants it. The report from Brian Costello of the New York Post that the Rams hired Ryan appears to be premature, but several reports have said that Rams coach Jeff Fisher is interested in adding Ryan to his staff. Some reports have said Ryan is the front runner to become the Rams’ next defensive coordinator.

But first he needs to get back from the beach.

The holdup is that he apparently has a tattoo of Gregg Williams wearing a Tony Romo jersey, which is kind of awkward at this point.

C’mon…he’s still waiting for the ink to dry on his Sam Bradford tattoo

You can say what you want, and Im sure a lot of you will, but ya gotta love Rob Ryan. He’s probably sipping on some Tequilla laughing his a** off at all the talking heads. He’s got the world by the balls and knows it!

Ryan on a beach? Sounds dangerous. He could be mistaken for a whale and get harpooned.

    He looks so dirty

Both him and his brother aren’t really coaches – they are actually right up there with the most phony and annoying reality tv idiots.
Jersey Shore, Basketball Wives, Finding Bigfoot (Rob Ryan)…that is who and what they really are.

Jeff Fisher + Rob Ryan? Cannot see Jeff putting up with Rob’s HUGE mouth. Thought Jeff wanted to build a GOOD team. Why the fawk would he want Distraction Ryan ranting and raving on the sidelines?

  40. sportsbastard says: Jan 12, 2013 8:56 AM

All of the fat jokes aside, this would be a good hire for the Rams. After enduring the Williams circus, Rob Ryan will be a walk in the park. (even if he does get winded).

Fisher played for Buddy in Chicago, everyone saw this one coming a mile away. Rob’s defense was not the problem in Dallas. (#9).

  41. watermelon1 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:00 AM

All of you idiots making jokes about Rex, when the article is clearly about ROB RYAN… sound like the kind of people who just regurgitate what you hear the media say every day.

    Good luck in the future.

  42. bdawk20 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:06 AM

Rob Ryan really ties the room together

  43. billp73 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:08 AM

Add this to the list of either bad or premature rumors. With a batting average like this over the last two weeks, there’s no point to paying any attention to the “first and exclusive club” until this stops.

  44. gator2006 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:10 AM

Quality comments here, boys and girls. Keep it up. Props to the Gregg Williams tattoo one lol.

  45. mrcogburn says: Jan 12, 2013 9:17 AM

And what does this say about Fisher, particularly in light of his previous hire, Gregg Williams? Sounds like an insecure coach overreaching on questionable talent again.

  46. thejuddstir says: Jan 12, 2013 9:22 AM

If the media would ignore the Ryan brothers, or at the minimum focus on holding them accountable for all their stupid predictions and bravado about how good they are……..then I think they would fade away. But hardly a day goes by where the media doesn’t put them front and center. Their ole’ man Buddy was the same way, just a family of blowhards.

  47. gator2006 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:26 AM

Another premature report. We should only trust official team sites and actual press conferences for news at this point.

  48. luvnlfe says: Jan 12, 2013 9:30 AM

Sad….not even his brother wants him…

  49. mrpilsner says: Jan 12, 2013 9:47 AM

Good call by Fisher, who has known Ryan since his (Fisher’s) playing days in Chgo and certainly shares defensive philosophies. Rams are improving.

  50. stillers7 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:50 AM

the sea was angry that day my friends …

  51. jbaxt says: Jan 12, 2013 9:54 AM

I wouldn’t want the Rams job either.

  52. gorilladunk says: Jan 12, 2013 9:55 AM

Good Luck to the Rams if Ryan gets the gig. You’ll have a DC who constantly reminds everyone that he’s the best in the business while your defense never makes a big play at a key moment, is in the bottom 20 percent of the league in turnovers, can’t remember if they need 9,10, 11 or 12 men on the field as you’re left wondering why the results on the field never match the bluster and bravado coming from the DC. Ryan was hilarious to listen to but, in the end, he was only spare to fair.

  53. joelvis72 says: Jan 12, 2013 9:57 AM

He’s the Gerard Depardieu of the NFL.

  54. MTLighthouse69 says: Jan 12, 2013 10:18 AM

I would hate to be a fly on the wall in the Ryan household when Rex and Rob were growing up. I thought Buddy was loud and obnoxious. It turns out that he raised two obnoxious kids in Rex and Rob.

  55. eatitfanboy says: Jan 12, 2013 10:19 AM

If it’s the Rams that leaked the story that he was going there, shame on them. They should have known Ryan would say something to try and turn it into a circus.

If it’s Ryan’s agent who leaked it and I’m the owner of the Rams, I’m calling him this morning and saying “tell your boy he can stay on the beach as long as he wants, we’re hiring someone else”.

Aside from his last name being Ryan, can anyone tell me what this guy has done to deserve yet another chance to be a DC?

  56. bignugs says: Jan 12, 2013 10:19 AM

Are you sure this wasn’t a cry for help?

  57. ripster65 says: Jan 12, 2013 10:25 AM

Is anyone else sick and tired of all of the false reports these days? Reid to AZ a sure thing! Ryan to the Rams done deal! Too many clowns trying to “get the scoop”. I wish their credibility dropped as much as they seem to think it rises when they actually do break some news.

  58. noring4youstill says: Jan 12, 2013 10:34 AM

    Jesus that’s a nasty thought

  59. rucanorx says: Jan 12, 2013 10:36 AM

He’s had a Top 10 defense 1 time in his career (’06 Raiders) and even they were ranked 18th in points – otherwise he hasn’t even cracked the top 15. Why does anybody this guy is good?

  60. soytureyna says: Jan 12, 2013 10:40 AM

That dirty old man is squealing with excitement because the Rams want to hire him. He isn’t fooling anyone.

  64. td40 says: Jan 12, 2013 11:23 AM

He says “I’m on the beach” as if everyone else should be envious of the fact. Meanwhile, no one has given him a job yet.

Here’s a guy trying to spin “nobody wants me” into something we should be jealous over. Ha…

  65. turfrage says: Jan 12, 2013 11:33 AM

Jeff Fisher insecure??!! Only an idiot would say that, or someone who has never been within 100 yards of this guy. He’s where he is for a reason. And you’re where you are for a reason….

  66. tschwilly876 says: Jan 12, 2013 12:02 PM

Rob Ryan is the jeff geotge of coordinators….all the potential to be great but in the end he is just a talking mullet…

  67. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Jan 14, 2013 10:54 PM

I’m just glad the Cowboys didn’t make it to the post season or something and ruin Ryan’s vacation plans. But he made reservations before the season started knowing they weren’t going any where in the post season.
