Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, who arguably did a better coaching job with Tim Tebow in 2011 than with Peyton Manning in 2012, given that Peyton pretty much ran the show, is expected to receive his reward via a head-coaching job.
So who will replace McCoy?
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the candidates include younger-than-Peyton Broncos quarterback coach Adam Gase (son-in-law of Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt), former Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, and Colts quarterbacks coach (and former offensive coordinator) Clyde Christensen.
At some point recently, someone suggested that former Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore could land in Denver.
At some point (or at every point), it doesn’t matter. Manning will continue to run the show, as long as he’s the Broncos’ quarterback. While it helps to have a great offensive coordinator, there’s no substitute for having a player-coach on the field.
