Pats pull away, with Shane Vereen scoring again

Five weeks ago, the Patriots beat the Texans by 28 points.  Today, it could end up being even worse.

New England leads by 25 early in the fourth quarter, 38-13.  The latest score came via a 33-yard touchdown pass from Pats quarterback Tom Brady to running back Shane Vereen, who has made the most of an injury to Danny Woodhead that knocked him out after only one play of offense.

For the day, Vereen has three touchdowns — one on the ground and two by the sky.

The score came one play after the Texans opted to go for it on fourth and one from their own 33.  Quarterback Matt Schaub badly overthrew receiver DeVier Posey, and Brady dropped the ball perfectly into Vereen’s hands at the front of the end zone.

The Texans once again are driving, thanks to another long kickoff return from Danieal Manning.  And it’s not over yet.

But it’s close.

Shaub is just unravelling. Painful to watch.

Looks like it’ll be SF vs. NE/BAL in the big one.

At this point just kick it out of bounds on kickoffs, seriously. They’re averaging 55 yards a return.

Good thing Arian Foster posted that article from that Patriots writer. This game is a real close nail biter thanks to that. Brady and the Pats might not even eclipse 500 yards of offense on them today.

if the Pats don’t smarten up with their special teams’ play, like don’t kick it to Manning, they’re going to let the texans back into it.

Onside kick with 5 minutes left?! Kubiak isn’t up to the task. One and done Houston strikes again.

I think you forgot how SF went into New England and took their lunch money.

As a lion’s fan, I love Lloyd’s mocking “get up and run after being down”.

It’s great to see Vereen finally getting a chance to show his abilities. Great time for a breakout game.

The Pats obviously have a keeper in Shane Vereen.

He’s a big play waiting to happen, love this kid.

I loved it when they showed Coach Bill look over his shoulder to see Vereen score on that beautiful pass, and then go right back to coaching, as if so what, that was supposed to happen.
