Pats pull away, with Shane Vereen scoring again

Vereen

Five weeks ago, the Patriots beat the Texans by 28 points. Today, it could end up being even worse.

New England leads by 25 early in the fourth quarter, 38-13. The latest score came via a 33-yard touchdown pass from Pats quarterback Tom Brady to running back Shane Vereen, who has made the most of an injury to Danny Woodhead that knocked him out after only one play of offense.

For the day, Vereen has three touchdowns -- one on the ground and two by the sky.

The score came one play after the Texans opted to go for it on fourth and one from their own 33. Quarterback Matt Schaub badly overthrew receiver DeVier Posey, and Brady dropped the ball perfectly into Vereen’s hands at the front of the end zone.

The Texans once again are driving, thanks to another long kickoff return from Danieal Manning. And it’s not over yet.

But it’s close.
