Pats stretch lead to seven

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady looks down field as he prepares to pass during the first quarter of their NFL AFC Divisional playoff football game against the Houston Texans in Foxborough Reuters

Gradually, the Patriots are waking up.  But their rematch with the Texans is a far cry from the blowout we saw five weeks ago.

The Pats have added to their lead with a 37-yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski.  The points came on a drive that stalled in large part after receiver Brandon Lloyd threw the ball a little too hard at an official after a pass one-hopped into Lloyd’s hands.  The 15-yard walk-off for unsportsmanlike conduct put the Patriots in tough position to score a touchdown, resulting two plays later in the field goal.

Meanwhile, the Texans are driving midway through the second quarter, despite only 10 yards rushing.

Halfway through the second & it’s so far so good for the Patriots’ defense – hope they are hosting the AFC title game in Foxborough next weekend!

Pats weathered a big return and a big emotional start by the Texans. Now they’re methodically putting them away. they get the ball to start the 2nd half too

The Texan’s defense looks befuddled at times.

17-3, this is on Schaub and Kubiak. Absolutely no reason we aren’t moving the ball better against the NE defense. Our D’s been on the field entirely too much.

This is too much for the texans. They just aren’t very good

Don’t think Schaub is answer at QB…Texans still need better OL, and someone to compliment Johnson at receiver. Watching this I can’t help but to wonder…Does McNair fire Kubiak after this??? I could see it being a possibility. Making it to this point each time, after not really doing anything during his tenure anyways…one has to wonder. I could see it happening.

Texans looked pretty good when they blew out the ravens. Maybe the Pats are better than you think

Maybe wait until the end of the game before acting like you won. Four point game in your house???
