Woodhead exits early for Pats

Danny Woodhead AP

The New England Patriots may have to earn yet another berth in the AFC title game without the help of one of their smallest weapons.

Per multiple reports, running back Danny Woodhead exited the game after New England’s first offensive snap.  He has been taken to the locker room with an apparent hand/wrist injury.

As Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com points out, the injury means that there will be more Shane Vereen, earlier than expected.

UPDATE 5:02 p.m. ET:  Woodhead has a thumb injury.  His return is questionable.
