How Jay Gruden is getting interviews over Jon Gruden is completely mystifying…and Zimmer and Mike Nolan too. Looks like a bunch of low balling going on around the league.

I guess you missed the memo 2 weeks ago from Jon Gruden’s agent telling all 32 teams that he is staying at ESPN. Maybe that’s why he’s not getting interviewed. Just a thought.

I think Arians health troubles scared off a lot of teams since the Eagles aren’t the only ones to skip interviewing him after his playoff no show. The guy would probably make a good choice for a team but the nfl seems to be going younger as far as coaches which is good.

Granted, the Eagles coaching search looks pretty bad now especially with how easy it was for Reid to get a job and how Banner pretty much got a two for 1 special in Cleveland with Norv Turner comming with his coach but there are a ton of good candidates available and the Philly job is right under the Chargers for best available Out of the ones left IMO.

How Jay Gruden gets tons of interviews over Mike Zimmer boggles the mind. Andy Dalton has not developed alot as a player and that offense has basically been living off of A.J. Green. Meanwhile Zimmer has transformed that defense into one of the best in the league and he gets overlooked every year. If they switched last names Zimmer would be a head coach by now.

Uhh….an Eagles roster full of practice squad players took your vaunted skins to the last play while your team was fighting for a playoff spot.

Now your franchise QB is seriously injured because the head coach is criminally negligent, and you have no first round picks for 2 years. Even if RGIII makes a miraculous recovery he will never last 16 games because of his small stature and reckless playing style. We Eagles fans have seen that movie before.

Indianapolis went from 2-12 to 10-6. The Redskins could just as easily reverse that next year. So could the Eagles be 12-4 again, not likely, but it could happen since the margin between winning and losing is so slim in the NFL. So unless your a Pats fan or a Jaguars fan, I wouldn’t be so smug, or so glum.

PriorKnowledge I am sure you have been on plenty of retail job interviews where you are asked questions like, “where do you see yourself in five years,” and “how would you handle yourself in this situation,” which makes interviews seem quite silly. However, this is a head coaching job of a billion dollar franchise, much bigger things then you will ever accomplish in 10 lifetimes. But I wouldn’t expect you to know how important interviews get in life, not until you graduate high school at least.

Seriously, what is the purpose of all these interviews? They don’t know these guys and are trying to determine if they can do the job or making sure their resume is honest.

“OK, John. It is fourth down and 14 in the first quarter of a zero-to-zero game. You have the ball on your own 22 yard line. What play do you call?”

“Where you do see yourself in 5 years?”

They do not need these interviews to determine whether to hire the guy. They should already know that. They only need these interviews to work out responsibilities. So many of these interviews are a waste of time.

How do you not interview Bruce Ariens? Taking over mid season he is an candidate for coach of the year, led a young team to the playoffs and helped develop Andrew Luck.

Why does the media continue to portray interviewing a lot of coaches as “not having a plan?” In Lurie’s presser he specifically said that they were going to “leave no stone unturned” and that they would interview college coaches, NFL coordinators, and former NFL coaches. This is exactly what they have done and continue to do. He said numerous times that it was more important to take their time and make the right decision than it was to make a quick decision. Which, again, appears to be exactly what they are doing.

So, the Eagles have been doing exactly what Lurie said they would do and somehow this is “not having a plan.”

I say interview everyone you can, take as long as you need, and find the best person for the job. If you find the next Lombardi, Belichick, or Parcells, no one is going to say “Yeah, but you had to interview too many people to find him.”

2 years older than billick and he got an interview so doubt it. None of these guys are real candidates. Bradley or Jon Gruden are the only real possibilities they are thinking about. Basically picking everyone’s brain about the team and what “they would” do.
