APThe end of the Packers season accelerated thinking about whether or not wide receivers Donald Driver and Greg Jennings would return to the team for the 2013 season.
They aren’t the only Aaron Rodgers targets with an uncertain future in Green Bay. Tight end Jermichael Finley’s long-term outlook with the Packers has been cloudy since reports surfaced near the end of the season that the team has already decided to move on without him next season. At the time, Finley said he wanted to remain with the Packers and he reiterated that while cleaning out his locker on Sunday.
“We just finished losing, man, and hopefully nobody thought that far,” Finley said, via Weston Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Hopefully, I’m here forever. I’m good for next year as far as I know.”
Finley is due a $3.5 million roster bonus in March and a $4.45 million salary next season, numbers that looked much too high for his services as he scuffled through the first half of the season. He had 32 catches in the final seven games of the season, though, and finished with fewer than 50 receiving yards in just one of those games. He added five catches for 45 yards in the team’s two playoff games, a bit off that standard, to leave a decidedly mixed bag for the Packers to sift through as they make their decision about Finley.
