APThere’s an opening at quarterback on the NFC Pro Bowl roster.
Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com reports that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be passing on the trip to Hawaii for the game later this month. Rodgers said that he won’t be going because of multiple injuries accrued over the course of the regular season. Rodgers said he had an injection in his knee on Tuesday and also mentioned ankle issues when discussing his decision to pass on the trip.
Rodgers is the second NFC quarterback to drop off the roster since the teams were announced. Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will also miss the game after having knee surgery to repair his ACL and LCL last week. If Atlanta advances to the Super Bowl, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan will be off the roster as well.
Drew Brees was named to the roster as Griffin’s replacement. Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson were also names as alternates for the roster when the voting was compiled.

As usual, if you’re a non-awful QB who plays all 16 games, you’re probably going to Hawaii.
Not surprised with how many times he was sacked and hit this season. If he wasn’t as mobile as he is he would’ve threatened David Carr’s record for sacks in a season. Jeff Saturday was a horrendous FA signing.
Heal well young man, we need you fit and healthy. Can’t really blame him, playing behind our line all season
Ryan will be available.
“multiple injuries accrued over the course of the regular season”
Nice excuse
And that is why AP is the MVP
That first hand-off in last year’s Pro Bowl probably didn’t do much to convince him to go either.
Does Christian Ponder get his first pro bowl now!
Rogers only reason to attend was to meet RGIII.
His cancellation had been expected for the past week.
I imagine he can afford to spring for a ticket if he wants to vacation in Hawaii.
After last year’s joke of a game, I’m sure he figured why bother. The injuries are simply an excuse to get out of it.
So what are the odds that Brees and Manning also decide the Pro Bowl game is beneath them and they back out? Could Cam Newton get to back up Wilson?
How long before we get to Ryan Lindley?
Wow, so now the Packers have no legitimate Pro Bowlers.
he’ll be too busy whining, huffing, puffing and overall just complaining!
Just quit putting on the Pro-Bowl already. It is a popularity contest to begin with. 20 grand to lose, 40 grand to win and a trip to Hawai’i? These guys make more than that getting dressed on game day.
Make it a trophy award and a check for some amount of money that can be donated to a charity of the players chosing. People dont watch it anyway because it is such a bogus contest.
should have blasted him harder. skol.
Maybe Stafford would be willing to throw for 400 yards in the game.
This Pro Bowl thing just isn’t working anymore.
I remember in the 80′s seeing Howie Long get angry and rip somebody during the game.
The only emotion now are the multiple man hugs before and after.
Can we get back to handshakes please?
Can someone please figure out how to get “Pro Bowl appearances” to stop counting as a stat to reflect the overall quality of an individual’s career? It is such a frustrating carry over from yester-year, that media folks feel compelled to include.
Last year’s pathetic performance was a disgrace to the game of football. No player would take any pride in such a farce. Good for boogie board fun, that’s all.
As a Vikings fan, I wish AP would man up and do the same…

I doubt his bruised arm will be healed yet. That’s like a 4-5 week recovery time…

Why do they have the dumb game? The players don’t want to actually play it they just care about being named to it. I don’t blame them. Why risk getting injured for because you won an award? That makes no sense. I watch every game every Sunday, but Boredom always has me unable to sit through the Pro Bowl. I agree with Goodell on next to nothing, but I agree with him about doing something about the Pro Bowl. I think they should just have Alec Baldwin announce the winning names at the NFL awards banquet they have the night before the Superbowl. It would be kind of fun to see helmetless faces smiling, clean, shaved, and gussied up like normal people in evening clothes.
“Excuse me, Mr. Goodell? There’s a Vince Young on the phone…..he wants to know where you’re having try-outs for the Pro Bowl.”
You know you all want to see Wilson because he makes every game exciting. Bring the Rook!!!

But Saturday made the Pro Bowl too! Lol.
By the time we get done with people backing out it’s going to be Jay Cutler and Mike Vick in there.
Discount double choke in the pro bowl?
Matt Ryan will be included in this year’s probowl. Once the Niners are thru with him

Sorry, I forgot about Jeff Saturday.
It can’t take many more QB’s to drop out before Tebow gets a call.
Cancel the pro-bowl and organise some sort of skills competition the day before the Super Bowl -like they do in the NHL.
The injuries are a bruised ego & crushed hopes & dreams.
Russell Wilson!!!!!!!!!!
Haha all the fans Of other NFC north teams talkin smack… Packers are only team that make that pathetic division. Watchable
Just one more reason — out of tons — why this revenue stream, errrrr sorry, “game” is a farce.
Before 2011 = Rodgers a classy guy
After 2011 = Rodgers a crybaby
What happened?
Signed, former fan of Aaron the Champ
Hey, remember when the Packers ended the Vikings season?
Me too. That’s the last NFC north memory we all have until next season. Let it sink in.
You Vikings fans happy that the packers have the rest of the league a blueprint for stopping Peterson?
Why don’t they just cancel the the Pro Bowl? The stars don’t want to go near it.
