Brandon Marshall may not be defending his Pro Bowl MVP award.
Marshall, according to Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com, needs arthroscopic surgery on his hip.
It’s unclear whether the looming procedure will keep Marshall from playing in the Pro Bowl. Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has said he needs shoulder surgery, but that he plans to play in Hawaii at the end of the month.
Marshall had six catches for 176 yards and four touchdowns for the AFC in the 2012 Pro Bowl. He’s due to be a member of the starting offense for the NFC all-star team after his first season with the Bears.
Marshall at no point during the 2012 season appeared on the injury report with a hip injury.
