We noted this morning that Dave Toub was likely to leave the Bears and become the special teams coordinator of the Chiefs, and this afternoon it became official.

The Chiefs have announced that Toub signed his contract as special teams coordinator today.

Dave is one of the league’s best special teams minds,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “He will bring an innovative approach and consistency to this group. Dave will get the most out of our players and I’m very happy he is joining our staff.”

Toub was a very well regarded special teams coach during his time with the Bears. Returners Devin Hester and Johnny Knox, special teams coverage players Brendon Ayanbadejo and Corey Graham and kicker Robbie Gould all made the Pro Bowl under Toub’s tutelage.

Toub previously worked for Reid in Philadelphia from 2001 to 2003.
