APRavens receiver Jacoby Jones opted not to take the bait when I asked him during today’s PFT Live whether he’ll be spending next week in Hawaii preparing for the Pro Bowl or the following week in his hometown of New Orleans preparing for the Super Bowl.
Teammate Anquan Boldin was less discreet.
“We’ll win,” Boldin said regarding Sunday’s AFC title game, via Tom Curran of CSN New England.
The words surprisingly appeared first on the Ravens’ official website, which contains a persistent disclaimer aimed at keeping anything appearing on the team-owned website from sticking to the team. Disclaimer or not, this one is sticking to the team like whatever was (or wasn’t) on the Chargers’ towels.
Last week, Boldin was similarly bold (see what I did there?) as the Ravens prepared to play the Broncos, saying of the rematch of Denver’s 34-17 regular-season win, “We’ll make it different.” This week, Boldin was a lot more clear and direct.

Why would you play the game if you do not expect to win? I mean I know I have a bias view because I am a raven fan. However if a patriot player said that, I would not consider it trash talk. It is what I expect.
I mean yeah, I’d dismiss the Patriots too. They’ve only won their last 4 AFC Championships games at home.
What did you expect him to say, we are going to get our butts whipped??
Ok. bro. Bring your ‘A’ game, I know the Pats will.
Cue the “bulletin board material” comments.
Yes, Q. Yes, you will.
I feel like a 6-year-old with Christmas coming up in a couple days. I can’t wait for the Ravens to give Brady a big scoop of payback.
Huge mistake! LOL
Ah, Boldin. The king of one huge game and then disappearing for 3 weeks. Bad dude, though.
as much as i dislike the patriots being a colts fan, dont give them billboard material like this before a big game at their place
“Super Bowl” Battle of the Birds!!
Ray vs Tony G sounds good to me!!
Harbaugh Bowl!!! At least give us the Ravens. I’d rather not watch Tom Brady lose his 3rd straight superbowl.
He’ll win – only in his dreams:
Patriots 38
Ravens 17
Brady’s going down!
its gona be a heck of a game tho!!! ravens cant have silly turnovers tho
Show me a player who says “i don’t know, we might not win this one…”
They will be sitting at home, on the couch.
why anquan why? you just gave the pats bulletin board material!!!!
“We’ll try very hard” doesn’t make much of a headline.
Like the Pats need motivation. They know they should have lost last year and we beat them already this year. They’ll be ready with or without Quan saying anything. Brian Billick said it best on Ravens last superbowl run: You don’t walk quietly into the Lions den you come in kicking and screaming and kick down the DOOR!
Man lots of bold predictions and crazy comments coming out of B-more, What do they think they are ? The J-E-T-S?
What a crazy, arrogant player! Doesn’t he know that the Broncos and Peyton Manning, oh, I mean the Patriots and Tom Terrific are the anointed ones and will coast to victory. tsk tsk…silly wide receiver.
Really no story here.
It will be noteworthy if the Ravens lose and he says “we were better.”
Otherwise, he’s only saying what every player, on both teams, should be thinking.
Boldin was asked “what are you all going to do differently”? He responded, “we’ll win” end of story PFT
seriously, of course he is going to say that we have no chance
What a non-story. There are going to be 90 players dressed for that game and EVERY single one of them believes their team will win the game.
Where do I go to get the 3 minutes I wasted on this, back.
i don’t care at all that teams trash talk but as a pats fan i can say that i am so happy my team just shuts up and plays. when you do that and win you look like a legend, and if you lose, no one can go back and rub it in. classy way of doing things. Do your job!
If the Broncos/Ravens reffing crew shows up in Foxboro, then I agree with Mr. Boldin, no way they lose.
The Patriots will have the ’12th man’ plus the refs in their back pocket
If the Ravens win…I’ll be really impressed
whats he going to say
You’d think these guys would have learned by now not to give Belichick a whip to lash Brady with.
They are going to win, and by A LOT!
I can just imagine Tom Brady looking at a white sheet of paper scotch taped above the water fountain saying “we’ll win” and screaming in anger.
Pulling for the Ravens, Pats had their chances and blew it against the Giants.
Is it Sunday yet?!
The worst part for Ravens fans is not only are you going to lose, but after the game you’ll still live in Baltimore.
Anquan’s EmBoldened…
At first I was worried when I read the headline that Q put a “take it to the bank” type statement out there. But after reading the article the headline should read “New England reporter reports that the Ravens website says Boldin predicts a win.” See? Now it sounds ridiculous. Which it is. Nothing to here folks…
I don’t get these people who say “What’s he supposed to say?”. Believe it or not, its very easy to not say “We’ll win”. You just don’t say it. Its really not rocket science. I know this is apparently hard to grasp, but its actually possible to be confident without disrespecting your opponent by declaring victory before the game.
How about “There’s 2 good teams playing on Sunday, and I like our chances”, or “I’m very confident in our team and our abilities, but the game is played on the field.” Both of those are perfectly acceptable and neither sound disrespectful to the other team.
This is news? Did you expect him to say: “We willl ose”?
The ravens just keep on running their mouths. It’s great to be confident. Just don’t give the team you are playing any more incentive. We all see what happens when you run your mouth and piss off Brady. You lose!! Keep on talking and get ready for you Hawaiian vacations!
LOL
This isn’t much of anything, but don’t worry. As we’ve learned in the past many times, much like when playing the Jets… there will be no shortage of junk-talk and bold predictions coming from the Ravens. Still got 4 more days for one or more of them to say something stupid.
Do u think Tom will say ” we will lose”…if he was asked the same question.
So an NFL player thinks his team is going to win TWO weeks in a row!!!
The audacity!
You guys are really slow today hunh?
4 days 5 hours and 5 minutes until Ray’s retirement !
Mike, yes we did see what you did there. Cute.
Anquan, You will be lucky to win the coin toss, much less the game. Although I am thinking it will be a great game, and a nine point spread is a very tempting wager, I just can’t trust you guys to pull off an upset of this magnitude, even if you bring your “A” game. Next time just bring your game, see what happens and save the smack until you can back it up.
When did the answer have to become either “We’re going to win” or “We’re going to lose”? Like those are the only possible answers?
Look, its no skin off my nose what he says. I’m sure the Pats don’t need extra motivation for this game, and I doubt they’re losing sleep over what this guy said. But lets not brush off a stupid comment by acting like he had no other option but to say those words. There are countless other things he could have said.
Pats fan here…that’s not trash talk, it’s not disrepectful. It’s confidence. He didn’t bad mouth anyone.
Let’s face it…if you walk out on the field of any game, never mind the AFCG, not thinking you’re going to win then you don’t belong there.
Lol…the pats are going to destroy the ravens. Ray Lewis is a huge liability on that defense. Pats 42 ravens 20
He just screwed the pooch…shoulda kept his mouth shut
How come noone ever seems to ask Brady if he thinks his team will win?
There’s a big difference between being confident in your ability to win a game and expecting to win as opposed to guaranteeing a win.
The vast majority of times I’ve seen players guarantee a win they haven’t.
The Pats would never make such a guarantee because they’re smart enough to realize that on any given Sunday you can never guarantee the random bounces will go your way if for no other reason.
Boldin could have said I’m confident that we can come away with the win if we play well but the Pats are going to be playing hard to do the same thing so no 100% guarantees. There are many ways he could have expressed his confidence without making a guarantee.
They better win this year cause when Chip Kelly shows up no one else will win.
I guess somebody should contact the Patriots and tell them not to bother showing up on Sunday.
I wonder if Anquan realizes that he won’t have Julian Edelman covering him like last year. And, oh by the way, the Pats have 2 new starting corners who didn’t play in the early season matchup. The Pats defense is much better than they were in both of those games.
Well….that Pat’s got luck last year, and let’s not forget they lost to the Arizona Cardinals this year at home.
I understand that you should think you are going to win but you shouldn’t say you are going to win. That is the difference. Are the Patriots less confident because their players don’t come out and say they are going to win. The correct answer is “we are going to prepare all week and play the best we can on Sunday.” It isn’t that tough.
Sure hope the Ravens win. The last nine Super Bowls, only three teams have represented the AFC (Patriots, Steelers, Colts), and it’d be nice to see someone else playing in the game.
As for Boldin, so what? The Ravins won there in the playoffs following the 2009 season, and nearly won again last year. They aren’t intimidated playing in Foxboro, and they have a better place-kicker this year. I think the teams are evenly matched, and won’t be surprised by whomever wins.

Yea just like pats v texans game…
Did you even watch it? How about that fumble/non-fumble?
Unbelievable what you haters will say and actually believe…
This would only be newsworthy if he took an unnecessary jab at the Pats or a particular player. He was being baited to but didn’t.
Both team’s players, head coach, assistant coaches, medical staff, equipment guys, and Gatorade cup filler is thinking the same thing.

==========================
Because its assumed they will win…. Unless they are playing Peyton Mannings kid brother….
I think it’s safe to say that the bulletin board in NE has more meaningful things on it than a comment from Boldin. That team has advanced beyond the point of needing outside motivation.
Not a fan of either team. But, after the Mile High Miracle, I believe him.
The Pats don’t care about any of this stuff; this is for fans only. Pats are only focused on meeting a challenge from a really good team by playing their hardest, mistake-free football. It will be a very difficult struggle, just the kind the Pats and their old, not good enough QB relish. Let’s get it on!
Sure they’ll win… provided Flacco can get away with putting up another prayer bomb, and the safety slips and falls instead of picking off the easy interception.
Or else Boldin just doomed them to lose.
Cue the bulletin board comments. If you really think pats need comments like this to motivate them, then they are in trouble. AFC championship game is enough.
The Pat’s know how lucky they got last year. Extremely lucky! Not to mention they weren’t even a match for the Giants in the SB. Texans are who we thought they were…the Cardinals came in and shut Brady down. Ravens is a definite challenge for NE.
Baltimore matches up better against NE than they did with Denver and already beat them once this season. All these New England homers who don’t think Baltimore has a chance must not pay attention to any other teams.
Bolden should be in NE to see what it’s like to play with a real QB. Could you imagine the numbers he would put up with Brady?
A lot of bravado coming out of Baltimore… It either means they know they will win, or that they’re trying to convince themselves that they can. We shall see on Sunday. Looking forward to it!!!
just because the rest of the nfl is scared of the pat’s doesn’t mean the ravens are
It might happen. Their odds will be a lot better this time since they don’t have Evans or Cundiff
It’s going to be a tough game that either team can win but I can guarantee you three things:
1) Ed Reed will be responsible for a helmet to helmet hit most likely on a ball that is not catchable anyway
2) Suggs will dive at Brady’s knees
3) They will both act indignant and surprised they are getting penalized like it is the first time they have been told in today’s NFL those are no longer legal actions
I know these things as I have watched every game between Baltimore and New England and they always seem to be a constent.
The year the Pats went unbeaten I picked the Giants to beat them. When they played again I picked the giants in last years game. Mark this down. The Pats are going to win Sunday and thier going to beat down SF in the superbowl. The only question I have is will Tom Brady call it quits if he wins. I think he might if he doesn’t really care about breaking the consecutive streak for TD’s
Here’s his full quote
We’ll win as long as the refs spot us 14 points again and the Pats DBs fall down and allow an 80 yards TD, and if Brady develops a nerve problem in his neck that stops him from throwing deep in the cold.
I really wish they wouldn’t create bulletin board material. That said. I wouldn’t want him to feel otherwise. Everyone is writing us off as 9 point underdogs. Slightly better than last week. Look how that ended.
The state of Massachusetts had its run. Now they’re arrogant. I doubt I’ll see any sportsmanship on here if they lose. Btw. That’s a very real possibility, a loss.
Love ya AB, but the Pats are gonna smoke ya. Let’s not kid ourselves, the Colts played okay, the Broncos played poorly, and Hoodie’s not letting this one get away.
There was nothing wrong with Bolden’s comment. There is still time for a Raven to say something stupid.
Keep talking….
Rooting for a Ravens win.
Expecting a Patriots win.
brady is going down………..to new orleans.
Exhibit A as to why New England has 5 Super Bowl appearances and 3 wins since 2000, and the Ravens have only 1 appearance and 1 win.
Oh but don’t worry. The fans will say “he was right”. And blame the refs.
One only needed to hear another full-voiced “BS” chant after the 2nd flag went against their defense when the Colts were driving.
And the Ravens WERE WINNING 24-9!!!!
What, do Ravens fans think saying that about the officiating will lead to some reverse psychology, and you’ll get BETTER calls?
The worst fans in the NFL.
I like the Pats in this one but the Ravens did settle the score with the Broncos who they had lost to.
There is definitely a difference in believing you will win and keeping your mouth shut and opening your big mouth out loud to claim you “will win”. Boldins an idiot he’ll never learn, Without any unforseen luck like last week he’ll learn the hard way again.
This is going to be a hard fought game especially with Tom Brady having the chance to pass Joe Montana on career post season wins this Sunday if the Patriots win.
There’s a big difference between saying “We can win” and “We will win”:
“We can win” displays your confidence in yourself and your team, but doesn’t show up on your opponent’s bulletin board.
I would like to tell him he’s wrong… but they just keep winning.
I hope you do just that Quan. Go in there and punch the Pats in the mouth just like you did my Broncs! I am ready to watch two teams that act like they are involved in a Prize Fight not one who happens to think they are playing in a friendly. Signed, still mad as hell in Denver!
He may come off as arrogant….
But overall, I believe him. They are playing tough team ball.
The Ravens can go into Foxboro and man-handle them.
You best believe it….
I don’t know what is worse, Harbaugh’s whining about officiating or Pollard and Suggs cheap shots!
Ravens with a close one 27-21
Good job last week Mr Boldin but this week you get to play Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.. I dont think your defense will be able to get the job done..Love the Pats offense..Pats win again..Sorry Q, keep talking
Ravens are so overrated. They’re gonna get smashed!
Boldin says “we’ll win” and its a story Pats put up billboards showing a countdown to sunday for Ray’s retirement and its nothing…ok
You hear all these trash talk come from the Ravens but then you dont hear the Pats players fire back..Pats keep their mouths shut but then they mock you on the field by fooling you with their plays..hahaha!
You people are making a big thing out of nothing. He was asked “HOW”, that’s it.
Gotta love how arrogant the ravens fans are even though they’ve won absolutely nothing since like 2001 against a poor giants team. They’re a team full of arrogant blowhards that will have their season ended on Sunday and they’ll have their usual excuses once again. I absolutely loved watching that ravens fan on youtube crying like a baby.
If you need “bulletin board” material to get fired up to play in a conference championship game you have no business playing. What is Q suppose to say? “We’ll lose”? This is typical media stirring up something out of nothing. 52 & co. will be ready to back up their “bulletin board” material come 6:30 Sunday night.
Didn’t you say that in the Conf finals vs the Steelers (lost twice) & Pats last yr (choked, then lost)?? Sure Q – you’ll win. LOL
