indicating, either karma wasn’t on your side as
1. “miracle catch” Tyree – stopped your perfect season
2. “dropped pass” Welker – stopped your last SB
or

3. playoff blowout – Ravens – knocked you out one year

4. divisional loss – Jets – knocked you out another year.

ever since that incident you havent one won, and there will always be skeptics, not haters. Haters would be wasted on a franchise such as yours, as it is a franchise to be acknowledged and respected. But understand, if you are associated with cheating in any way, it will linger.

That being said, Good luck v. the Ravens, you guys are due.

I live in NY and most of the people I hear talking about spygate erroneously think the Patriots were punished for filming opposing team’s practices.

They also falsely believe the contents of the tapes were never shown to the public.

The truth is simply that people don’t understand what the Patriots were accused of or how they used the tapes.

The media contributed to this by spending hours and hours speculating on how the footage was used and jumping the gun with sensationalistic headlines like “Cheater”.

The Patriots were guilty of and penalized for violating a rule. That in and of itself doesn’t make them cheaters. Whether they cheated depends on how that footage was used. If they used it to decipher opposing teams signals in the same game the footage was taken, then I would agree….They are cheaters.

But this is not the case. That is not how the footage was used, nor is it even logistically possible to use it that way.

The Patriots used the footage in an attempt to decipher the audible tendencies of opposing defensive coordinators. They kept detailed files on every defensive coordinator in the league to figure out how they might respond to specific situations. Spygate was nothing more than extremely advanced scouting.

Opposing fans will believe what they want to believe, facts be damned. Their views are largely irrelevant. All Belichick does is win. His winning percentage is actually better after spygate than it was before and after spending 2008-2010 rebuilding the team on the fly, he once again has a team on his hands capable of winning multiple championships.

The question I have is when the Patriots win 3 or more Super Bowls over the next five years or so, will that be considered a “new” Patriots dynasty or simply a continuation of the last one? Anybody have any thoughts on that.

I hate the Patriots, but I respect him. He is a great coach. He gets it done with whatever players he is given. The year he did not have Brady he went 11-5.

“Fairly unimpressive teams”?

They went a combined 34-4 in 2003-2004 and were favored in both SBs over Carolina and Philly. They won 21 games in a row in that span. In 2004 they beat the living hell out of Peyton’s Colts and then went into Pittsburgh and beat the living hell out of the 15-1 Steelers to get to the SB.

They dominated those two seasons like no team in recent memory. They were clearly the best team in football during that time.

As close as many of the Pat’s games were back in those Superbowl years, I’m sure Spygate helped immensely to secure victory in very close games, especially the Rams Superbowl.

Still, no SB wins since Spygate, this year included! Ravens will roll!!!!

Dude there’s enough evidence and other coaches speaking up about the video taping scandal to know that everyone was doing it and the rules changed in 2006. It’s very ignorant to state that everyone of the pats wins and championships are tarnished.

Was he the HOF coach Belichick in Cleveland? No. Was he media friendly in Cleveland? No. Is he now?!? No. I’m not saying he was great by any stretch, but he simply wasn’t as bad as people say.

Funny how in the first draft in Baltimore, the newly christened Ravens selected Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis in the first round. Wish Belichick had a chance to coach them.

The Pats had leads in the final minute of both games. So because Tyree catches a ball off his helmet, and Wes Welker drops a ball he usually catches in his sleep, it means the Patriots “haven’t won anything since spygate”. Please. Enough. 2 more wins and this non-story finally takes its last breath.

What did he destroy? Did you want to see that boring video over over again. People act like these tapes could have proven who killed Kennedy. Get over it.

For me to consider Belichick one of the greatest coaches of all time I’d have to see him coach without brady for more than one year (yes I’m aware he did it with Cassel). I doubt I’ll get that chance though because he’ll probably retire the same time as Brady….I think everyone can agree that in football it’s all about talent. When Belichick had no talent in Cleveland he sucked…when he was given talent in New England he succeeded. A true great coach i.e. Don Shula does it with multiple quarterbacks who maybe aren’t superstars

Pats fans can give thumbs down all they want. The fact remains he was caught cheating. It may be different if the pats won 3 blowouts but they won each Super Bowl by a FG.

That is very close which means the difference may very well have been the spygate cheating.

His legacy is that while he is a very good coach, his championships will always be doubted. Just like lance Armstrong. Maybe Armstrong wins the tour once or twice without cheating but most will doubt that.
