Browns fan here. I liked the idea of Kelly shaking things up with the Browns' offense when it looked like he was coming to Cleveland. I'm not gonna play sour grapes and hate on the guy now, but I'm still pretty happy with getting a coach with some NFL experience under his belt who still has a track record of being adaptable and innovative on offense. Philly is either going to give Kelly a key to the city or run him out of town within a few years. Cleveland would've done the same thing. It's a big gamble, but if it pays off, it'll be huge. If it doesn't, well, it's no different than about half the other coaching his each year...

A lot of people doubting Chip Kelly. He at least deserves a chance to give an NFL gig a shot. He had an excellent program there in Oregon. Will that translate to NFL success? It may, but the system he ran in Oregon will likely not. He will have to adapt a scheme to fit the NFL. If he can do that, he'll be alright. If he cant, he wont make it.

I think i just lost interest in my hometown team today. I have no respect for this guy, saying he'd go back to Oregon last week and then s switcheroo today. No respect for this guy with sanctions pending. No respect for a GM with no football experience. And no respect for an owner that seems to ignore that defense has always defined the Eagles.

No NFL experience. Does that speak louder than anything?

And I am losing a bit of respect for the NFL with the stunning ignorance of Lovie Smith, and someone needs to say something about that.

On a related note… when are the Eagles going to update the ugliest uniforms in the league and take those ridiculous wings off the helmet (wings on the head?)?

Seriously? They are great helmets. The color should decide if wants to be green or black but the wings are awesome. Just like the Rams, they are unique and used across the country at many different levels I would say iconic except the Eagles haven't won a Super Bowl so didn't want to open myself up to those trolls.

with all the speed eagles have this will be a great decision in the end….. Great move Birds!!!! Went from as duck to an Eagles

I agree. Chip Kelly doesn't coach plays he coaches concepts. The idea is that you don't allow the defense to dictate to you, you dictate ot the defense what you're going to do. Outside of the Bears hire I think this is the second best one of the off season. By, the way I'm a Saints fan but I think Bears fans are going to get the last laugh concerning coaches I think that was a great hire the made

Tampa wanted him last year....Browns, Bills, and Eagles wanted him this year, and Belichick went to him for advice.

He is obviously highly respected and even though it is a risk I'll take the chance.

Well there's good and bad to this hire. The good news is that the Eagles definitely have the pieces to run a Chip Kelly offense. And that offsense gives the Eagles a chance to be quick striking and productive. What will make or break his tenure will be his staff decisions. Mainly who's gonna be his DC? Cause besides the To's the offense could move the ball well. The defense on the other hand was horrible. So I'm anxious to see who he will employ at that position.

psilenttype says:

Chip Kelly was only a Head Coach for 4 years is he really ready to be a Head Coach of an NFL team???

- - - - - - - - - - -

Yes, but have you seen what he's done in those four years? Four BCS bowls, three top 5 final rankings, and a 46-7 record. And NFL coaches like Belachik have started to steal ideas from him.

All of you predicting failure are going to be proven wrong in the next couple seasons. He's the real thing.

I can speak for most Eagles' fans when I say that this is another gimmick move by Roseman and Laurie.

Roseman and Lurie, Get this into your heads: your fan base does not want more gimmicks. We have been dealing with gimmicks ever since Roseman started taking over. It's ridiculous.

Look at the teams in the championship games tihs year: SF, Atl, NE, and Balt. None of them are gimmick teams. They have great coaches with NFL resumes and they go for their opponents' throats with attacking offenses. There's no glitz, no drama, no gimmicks. This will peak the fans' interest for the whole off-season and into the regular season, but if things start to go south it is going to be really ugly.

Roseman, you are known for taking risks. What you really remind me of is a a young, less-credible Jerry Jones. You're all about the show. For you, wins are nice, but the show is the most important thing. Eagles fans are sick of it.
