Michael Crabtree being investigated for sexual assault

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree is being investigated over allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman last week, according to multiple media reports.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that police have interviewed Crabtree about allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in a San Francisco hotel early on January 13, hours after the 49ers beat the Packers at Candlestick Park.

Bay Area television station KTVU reports that San Francisco Police have confirmed the investigation, and that Crabtree is cooperating with the Special Victims Unit, whose detectives interviewed Crabtree.

Crabtree has not been arrested or charged. He is still expected to play on Sunday against the Falcons in Atlanta.

Built-in excuse for the 9’ers to be distracted when they lose?

  4. gmen0820 says: Jan 18, 2013 10:51 PM

In the criminal and justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous.

  5. totallyuselessme says: Jan 18, 2013 10:52 PM

If it happened last week and he’s not arrested yet, that kind of points to a lack of conclusive forensic evidence.

And a lack of forensic evidence can point to somebody that was trying to squeeze him for money over the course of a week instead of going straight to the police.

That said, if he’s guilty I hope he rots in a cell for it. I just doubt the likelihood of guilt in something like sexual assault (for which there should be immediate and conclusive evidence, generally, or none at all) if there wasn’t an immediate arrest.

  16. dirtyjersey9er says: Jan 18, 2013 11:04 PM

BTW if he did it then his days as a 9er are numbered. It’s been said Harbaugh has a zero tolerence policy on men putting their hands on women.

  17. ninerdynasty says: Jan 18, 2013 11:05 PM

Sounds like someone is trying to be a gold digger.. if they knew for sure there was foul play they wouldve arrested him by now.. the fact that there is an investigation makes it iffy. but then again, you never know with these football players..

Is like you watching your friend slam himself against a wall and watching how much it hurts and then going out and doing it yourself. No need for sexual assault, if a chick doesnt want to put up, throw her out and get the next one in line.. lol.

I’m a Cards fan so I have no love for the 9ers but I want them to rep the NFC West and win. That said, I doubt Crabtree needs to sexually assault anyone. Please. The woman goes to his hotel room I’m sure she thought they were gonna go play Monopoly. This will turn out to be bogus and the woman won’t get in any trouble for filing a false report but will get a nice cash payout to drop it all.

  44. sk8terant says: Jan 18, 2013 11:26 PM

Shows how much you guys know. Forensic results for a sexual assault doesn’t come overnight. It can take up to 2-3 months depending on the case and laboratory. Due to the nature of false imprisonment and a counter sue, Labs have to be precise on the conclusion. I’m a 49ers fan so I give him the benefit of doubt. Hoping this all passes. #BeatTheFalcons!

The dude has girls begging to be with him and his money. Why would he need to rape someone. I’ve been around NFL players and they have the best PUZY on the table at all times weather at a club, or strip club. I don’t think this dude would risk his career to rape some woman.

I don’t agree. Sexual assault victims are often too intimidated to report their assailants right away. It’s very common for rape victims to never report their crimes at all, or blame themselves for it.

If you were a woman, wouldn’t you be scared of reporting a millionaire NFL player? The first thing people will say is something like you just did–that you just want their money, or that you “couldn’t resist” and now you regret it.

I can’t blame someone for feeling intimidated. How about we quit with the speculation. If this person really was sexually assaulted, imagine how they’d feel right now.

Why does Crabtree get so much hate? Everyone calls him a diva because of the holdout but he’s been the consummate team player since he’s stepped on the field. I haven’t heard anything negative about him from coaches or teammates since he’s been in the league. Nor have I heard him complain about not getting the ball or anything. Why does he have a diva rep?
