Getty ImagesSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree is being investigated over allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman last week, according to multiple media reports.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that police have interviewed Crabtree about allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in a San Francisco hotel early on January 13, hours after the 49ers beat the Packers at Candlestick Park.
Bay Area television station KTVU reports that San Francisco Police have confirmed the investigation, and that Crabtree is cooperating with the Special Victims Unit, whose detectives interviewed Crabtree.
Crabtree has not been arrested or charged. He is still expected to play on Sunday against the Falcons in Atlanta.
If proven true – what a loser.

If it happened last week and he’s not arrested yet, that kind of points to a lack of conclusive forensic evidence.
And a lack of forensic evidence can point to somebody that was trying to squeeze him for money over the course of a week instead of going straight to the police.
That said, if he’s guilty I hope he rots in a cell for it. I just doubt the likelihood of guilt in something like sexual assault (for which there should be immediate and conclusive evidence, generally, or none at all) if there wasn’t an immediate arrest.

Shows how much you guys know. Forensic results for a sexual assault doesn’t come overnight. It can take up to 2-3 months depending on the case and laboratory. Due to the nature of false imprisonment and a counter sue, Labs have to be precise on the conclusion. I’m a 49ers fan so I give him the benefit of doubt. Hoping this all passes. #BeatTheFalcons!

I don’t agree. Sexual assault victims are often too intimidated to report their assailants right away. It’s very common for rape victims to never report their crimes at all, or blame themselves for it.
If you were a woman, wouldn’t you be scared of reporting a millionaire NFL player? The first thing people will say is something like you just did–that you just want their money, or that you “couldn’t resist” and now you regret it.
I can’t blame someone for feeling intimidated. How about we quit with the speculation. If this person really was sexually assaulted, imagine how they’d feel right now.

Why does Crabtree get so much hate? Everyone calls him a diva because of the holdout but he’s been the consummate team player since he’s stepped on the field.
