San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree is being investigated over allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman last week, according to multiple media reports.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that police have interviewed Crabtree about allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in a San Francisco hotel early on January 13, hours after the 49ers beat the Packers at Candlestick Park.

Bay Area television station KTVU reports that San Francisco Police have confirmed the investigation, and that Crabtree is cooperating with the Special Victims Unit, whose detectives interviewed Crabtree.

Crabtree has not been arrested or charged. He is still expected to play on Sunday against the Falcons in Atlanta.

  1. If it happened last week and he’s not arrested yet, that kind of points to a lack of conclusive forensic evidence.

And a lack of forensic evidence can point to somebody that was trying to squeeze him for money over the course of a week instead of going straight to the police.

That said, if he’s guilty I hope he rots in a cell for it. I just doubt the likelihood of guilt in something like sexual assault (for which there should be immediate and conclusive evidence, generally, or none at all) if there wasn’t an immediate arrest.

  2. Innocent until proven guilty you douche bags, would it be shocking to find out that she’s lying to extort the guy? Its happened before and sure as hell will happen again.

  3. Sounds like someone is trying to be a gold digger.. if they knew for sure there was foul play they wouldve arrested him by now.. the fact that there is an investigation makes it iffy. but then again, you never know with these football players..

Is like you watching your friend slam himself against a wall and watching how much it hurts and then going out and doing it yourself. No need for sexual assault, if a chick doesnt want to put up, throw her out and get the next one in line.. lol.

  4. He’s rich and famous, most likely a money squeeze. Its probably the same girl, if not, related to the girl who tried to get Pablo Sandoval. With that said, if he’s guilty, he’s a POS. If not, the girl should be prosecuted.

  5. You get apples from an apple tree. You get pears from a pear tree. You get…well, I think we all know what you get from a Crabtree.

  6. This just in: The alleged victim was wearing T-shirt with the letters DTF on the front & was seen downing several shots of liquor before the alleged encounter in a motel room bathroom.

In the criminal and justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous.

This is not one of those stories (dun dun) hahaha

  8. If he did it he has to go! Trade him to the Cowboys… they take all the malcontents. He’s a bit to flamboyant for the 49ers anyway.

  9. He looks so happy and carefree in that picture, that’s over.

Honestly, at this point we’ve seen enough athletes not understand that no means no, and seen enough women use rape accusations as extortion attempts against athletes that its truly 50/50 on the whodunit meter. Scores 100 for “not this again”

Side note: to all the late arrivals…. Welcome to the Age of the Skeptic

Mike Tyson is staring at you in utter disbelief and restrained rage to attack.

  11. Some lady got drunk, Crabtree hooked up with her, next morning she cries to the police. Text book guys. Ask Kobe.

  12. so any details on what he did? assaulted her could be a few things.. did he grab her in an inappropriate way? or did he try to rape her? its a little to vague right now.

  13. I’m a Cards fan so I have no love for the 9ers but I want them to rep the NFC West and win. That said, I doubt Crabtree needs to sexually assault anyone. Please. The woman goes to his hotel room I’m sure she thought they were gonna go play Monopoly. This will turn out to be bogus and the woman won’t get in any trouble for filing a false report but will get a nice cash payout to drop it all.

  14. Shows how much you guys know. Forensic results for a sexual assault doesn’t come overnight. It can take up to 2-3 months depending on the case and laboratory. Due to the nature of false imprisonment and a counter sue, Labs have to be precise on the conclusion. I’m a 49ers fan so I give him the benefit of doubt. Hoping this all passes. #BeatTheFalcons!

  15. Here’s a novel idea, wait until the truth come out before judging.. I don’t know might be the normal thing to Especially since a lot of these so-called cases have come back to be nothing was done wrong

  16. Pretty stupid if it’s true. Could just be a butt hurt Packers fan trying to cause a distraction for the 49ers before their game Sunday. No facts yet though. Interesting, nonetheless.

  17. sounds like an upset Packer fan trying to get paid. Really can you really think a dude with money, high profile player need to rape some girl. The dude has girls begging to be with him and his money. Why would he need to rape someone. I’ve been around NFL players and they have the best PUZY on the table at all times weather at a club, or strip club. I don’t think this dude would risk his career to rape some woman.

  18. Sexual abuse allegations with no arrests, charges, or evidence?

Thats 6 games possibly reduced to 4, right rog?

  19. Unfortunately these sports players often have such a high level of entitlement that they actually believe they should receive especially favorable treatment, can do what they wish with women as they are just toys to be used by them. I find this piece of work reprehensible.

  20. I have an idea. The Atlanta police, in order to assist their Frisco bethren, should pick him up and take him to the station for questioning about 2:55 p.m. on Sunday.

I don’t agree. Sexual assault victims are often too intimidated to report their assailants right away. It’s very common for rape victims to never report their crimes at all, or blame themselves for it.

If you were a woman, wouldn’t you be scared of reporting a millionaire NFL player? The first thing people will say is something like you just did–that you just want their money, or that you “couldn’t resist” and now you regret it.

I can’t blame someone for feeling intimidated. How about we quit with the speculation. If this person really was sexually assaulted, imagine how they’d feel right now.

    Like Big Ben? Kobe?

  23. Relax people, this is just someone looking for a payday. Women are evil. They know they can use the system and do it routinely, especially to rich guys who sleep around.

  24. Why does Crabtree get so much hate? Everyone calls him a diva because of the holdout but he’s been the consummate team player since he’s stepped on the field. I haven’t heard anything negative about him from coaches or teammates since he’s been in the league. Nor have I heard him complain about not getting the ball or anything. Why does he have a diva rep?

  25. Mindless stream of idiot comments. Count the $$$ for making this charge. But just presume guilt and trip on, mindless monkeys.

  26. So he has been interviewed, but hasn’t been arrested or charged? This is a non-story until either one of those happens.

If he does end up being found guilty of this, throw the book at him.

  27. No love for the Harbaugh 49er’s , but for all of you giving Crabtree the benefit of the doubt, where was that benefit for Roethlisberger??? Let’s hope no woman was assaulted. If so, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If not, the woman making the accusation should be prosecuted. It’s totally reprehensible either way. When will these guys learn? I swear these athletes are so dumb, that their college scholarships were total wastes of $$$$ that could have gone to academics who needed the help.

  28. Sorry to hear this. He is one of my favorites. Im an Eagle Fan but remember him being an overall 1st pick in the draft. I hope the allegations are false.
