Falcons already up 17-0

So far, so good for the Falcons.

With everyone expecting the 49ers to roll into the Georgia Dome and get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1994, the Falcons are rolling over the 49ers.

It’s 17-0 after one snap in the second quarter.

Matt Ryan has completed 11 of 14 passes for 183 yards and two touchdown.  Six of the completions and both touchdowns have gone to receiver Julio Jones, who has 121 yards receiving.

Roddy White has added 49 on three catches, and the Falcons’ defense has forced a pair of three and outs by the 49ers’ offense, punctuating the second drive with a sack of quarterback Colin Kaepernick that twisted and contorted him in a way that surprisingly didn’t injure him.The 49ers have gained minus-two yards, and the Falcons now have 203.

The fact that the Falcons blew a 20-0 first-half lead last week could help them here.  White told Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports that the Falcons became too lazy and relaxed against the Seahawks.  That surely won’t happen here.

They were talking about Julio Jones and the five draft picks they gave up to get him before the game. I was thinking 5 draft picks, you could almost rebuild a defense with that.

    Julio shut me up.

I just want to point out to the rg3, kaepernick, Wilson/spread option fan boys that a pure pocket passer is dominating this game against a top defense.

“Oh but it’s the way of the future…”

    Go falcons!!

Niners are overrated. Kaepernick is overrated. Harbaugh is a classless arrogant coach who is bein exposed by the better team.

    Go falcons!!

This is what you come to expect from a Jim Harbaugh team.

Who cares? They always do this. They’ll blow the lead like they always do.

    Alex Smith is flabbergasted.

49rs are who we thought they were, a good defense with a junky gimmick offense that won’t be able to sustain long term success.

Nothing is over after a quarter and a half. The Falcons can start playing their blunder ball at any time. The Harbaugh brother SuperBowl is still on course.

No lead is safe when it’s the Falcons.

I would like to see the Falcons win this for Gonzalez, he is a class act !

Matthew Melt already teased about 3-4 picks today. He’s going to throw a couple today. Falcons are a joke.

  13. mrcogburn says: Jan 20, 2013 4:11 PM

Matt Ryan has ample teeth. That exceptionally large set of choppers makes him nervous under the kind of defensive rush SF can consistently deliver. Look for him to throw a couple of critical picks that will be the difference in the game.

And all because he has big teeth.

“That surely won’t happen here”, I read as the score becomes 17-14.

Actually, to all you blowhard falcons fans, the falcons ARE who we though they were. SOFT. Can’t hold a lead. Can’t win the second half. All you idiots with posts above me, please, show your face now.

Dude who compared rg3 and kaep to wilson lol. Wilson is a pocket qb who can SCRAMBLE the other 2 are RUNNING qb’s who could throw. BIG difference all of russels runs last year were when there was no one open not because it was designed

  17. allidoiswin55 says: Jan 20, 2013 4:48 PM

Man The falcons caught 2 teams on an off day. Hawks without best probowl backup defensive end and the niners playing like never before. Credit due to the falcons but definitely something odd about that could be fate..

Believe 8 out of 10 9’ers or Seahawks would beat the Falcons but NOT THIS TIME… Good for those dirty birds.

  18. Mr. Wright 212 says: Jan 20, 2013 4:57 PM

The game is not over. Save the congratulatory spiels until 0:00, especially with these choke artist Falcons involved.

  19. lionsdraftguy says: Jan 20, 2013 5:05 PM

    Niners are a huge joke.

  20. MichaelEdits says: Jan 20, 2013 5:09 PM

We don’t want a blowout here. That’s what the Super Bowl is for.

  21. luccabrazzi says: Jan 20, 2013 6:18 PM

everyone should wait for the final whistle from now on before they open their mouths with big opinions. enjoy the offseason!

  22. southpaw79 says: Jan 20, 2013 6:38 PM

That 17 point lead at least made the game exciting. Thank you Falcons for making the game last 60 minutes.

  23. onegamedoesnotaseasonmake says: Jan 20, 2013 7:14 PM

Did they fire Mike Smith yet?

  24. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Jan 20, 2013 9:10 PM

Evidently Falcons became too “lazy and relaxed” again. In a championship game? Com’ on man!
