Muscle Hamster heads to Hawaii

DougMartin AP

With the 49ers qualifying for the Super Bowl, the NFL needs to replace San Fran’s eight Pro Bowlers.

The NFL already has announced that Bucs running back Doug Martin will replace running back Frank Gore.

The other 49ers Pro Bowlers are tackle Joe Staley, guard Mike Iupati, defensive lineman Justin Smith, linebackers Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis, and NaVorro Bowman, and safeties Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner.

The NFL may also have to replace Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who suffered an apparent shoulder/collarbone injury late in Sunday’s game.

Martin, a rookie, rushed for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns.  He apparently was higher on the list of alternates than Redskins rookie running back Alfred Morris, who finished with 1,613 yards.

Pro Bowl is a joke, everyone know it, but Martin over Morris is an absolute travesty.
At least London Fletcher and Ryan Kerrigan are now going in place of Willis and Bowman

    HTTR

Luke Keuchly should get one of the MLB spots. He had a great year.

Cool, the absolute worst nickname in the history of professional sports is Pro Bowl bound.

  5. generalgrant05 says: Jan 20, 2013 7:05 PM

You forgot to mention that if you include martins receiving yards then he is over 1900 yds.. If Morris wasnt invisible in the pass game then maybe he would have got more votes than the complete back in Tampa.

  6. krycek84 says: Jan 20, 2013 7:06 PM

Martin is more complete than Morris.

With Goldson and Whitner at superbowl, Ronde Barber should go to Hawaï too

    @PhantomsToenail

Ryan Kerrigan, an outside linebacker, going in place of NaVarro Bowman, an inside linebacker.

OK then. Understand football positions much?

  8. paulrg77 says: Jan 20, 2013 7:10 PM

What is this Pro Bowl that you speak of?

  9. PhantomsToenail says: Jan 20, 2013 7:11 PM

2nd leading rusher in the NFL this year NOt in the Pro Bowl?? Yeah travesty.

Also, Morris will clear more votes than Martin for the ROY, but he won’t win. It will come down to Luck and Griffin

  10. PhantomsToenail says: Jan 20, 2013 7:17 PM

    @ Meatfish

Ryan Kerrigan is in place of Willis….Yeah, Understand the process now…good.

  11. PhantomsToenail says: Jan 20, 2013 7:18 PM

My mistake…Kerrigan is in place of Aldon Smith

Martin clearly outperformed Morris. He had a load more of receptions and receiving yardage, and he had fantastic ball security whereas Morris coughed it a few times more than Morris. No contest.

Has it ever happened before when a guy rushes for over 1600 yards with 13 TD’s and doesnt go to the pro bowl? Shocking!

  16. britishraven says: Jan 20, 2013 8:07 PM

Who actually watches the Pro Bowl?

It’s embarassing for the NFL to put that product on show.

  17. captainstagger says: Jan 20, 2013 8:34 PM

Martin over Morris all day….not just receptions and receiving yards but he had two back to back games With total rushing yardage of 465, and rattled off 4 TD’s in one game, 3 going over 45 yards (1st ever RB in the NFL) rushing for 100 yards and a TD per game is good, but Morris never had the statement ges that Martin did.

  18. paredskinwarrior1985 says: Jan 20, 2013 8:43 PM

Morris is hands down the better rb but hamster has the receiver speed! both rb’s deserve to be in but if morris doesn’t get a spot it will turn the pro bowl into even more of a joke

  19. petedutcher says: Jan 20, 2013 9:08 PM

Morris is nowhere close to Doug Martin.

The Bucs have 3 players going to the probowl and the only reason they don’t have more is because you dweebs don’t pay attention to their games. You would rather talk about things you know nothing about.

  20. finsphan says: Jan 20, 2013 9:24 PM

Martin over morris is almost as bad as scam newton over Stafford last year. it’s just a popularity contest, not best players in.

  21. ckualii says: Jan 20, 2013 9:44 PM

    @finsphan

Makes sense since the Bucs are clearly more popular and nationally covered than the racially insensitive team that practices in VA and plays in MD, avoiding DC completely.

  22. matthewcarlson1 says: Jan 20, 2013 9:50 PM

Martin had a bigger impact on his team. i think he also started less games but not sure. Dont get me wrong, Im a big fan of Morris but Martin is the more exciting back.

  23. txeer304 says: Jan 20, 2013 11:07 PM

    Morris – Rushing – 1613, Rec – 77 = Total yards – 1690
    Martin – Rushing – 1454, Rec – 472 = Total yards – 1926

Martin finished with 236 more total yards than Morris and put together a string of 4 games that had him getting mentioned with AP as a top back in the NFL…
Nothing against Morris….But Martin beats him this year

  24. ccsteele305 says: Jan 21, 2013 3:35 AM

hey you guys cant count that the 49ers have 9 pro bowlers?

  25. 1buc says: Jan 21, 2013 6:39 PM

If people really knew football they saw a running back in Morris that benefited for a read option offense ran by a quarterback that was capable of taking it the distance himself. Martin lost both All Pro gaurds that are possibly the best two in the game. One before the season and the second half way threw the season. With back-ups he still had great games with no gimmick offense! Over 1900 hundred yards total from scrimmage as a rookie….. Look up the list of how many people have do that! I’ll wait

  26. winstonpark says: Jan 22, 2013 1:06 AM

Morris was in the Shannahan zone blocking running scheme that has turned a plethra of bums into studs. The same zone blocking system is being ran by the Texans which is why I never took Foster as a serious talent. Martin is a better all round RB because he can do all of this record breaking sh#t behind a 3rd string offensive line. Just be happy with your system RB Redskin fans, and never compare Morris to real talent again.
