Most of us Pats fans know more than we ever wanted to about this whole process. The short answer is of course there was a purpose for it. It allowed them to scout opposing teams more efficiently by having a record of the hand signal and the game clock to synch to what plays were being run when they watched the game tapes later in the following week. One reason it made it more efficient to record this is because teams give dummy hand signals (if they are smart, because 60+ k eyes at the game can still see them regardless of videotapes) so it made deciphering them more cumbersome. The legal method to do this remains (after the memo BB decided to eschew) having a person sitting upstairs writing everything down instead of having it on tape. I would bet teams still do that.

I can understand why you hate Brady, some people just hate greatness. Especially when it takes 16 games for your joke of a quarterback to show up.

Now to everyone who has hated on Belichick, regardless of what team your rooting for on Sunday.

The reason the Patriots aren’t “relevant” is because these shows like PTI, Around the Horn, SportsCenter (all shows I completely enjoy) only look for the interesting stories and headlines around the NFL. There’s nothing interesting about a humble football program who wins 13-14 games a year and hardly says anything stupid during the season, which teams like the Ravens are prone to.

He always gets his team to the playoffs, which people who have to watch the Chargers for a random example absolutely loathe. So enjoy the Super Bowl appearance Ravens and 49ers fans.

P.S. Have you noticed that Patriots players are dropping like flies out of the Pro Bowl? Just know their already prepping for another 12+ win season.

There was nothing clandestine about the Patriots filming during “Spygate.” The filming was done on the opposing team’s sideline, by an identified Patriots employee, on full view of the other team. The Patriots were continuing a practice that all teams used, but were told to stop. (Jimmy Johnson stated that he always did it as a coach.) The Patriots and BB were penalized for ignoring the league’s repeated orders to stop. NO practice was ever taped.

Following the definition above, the Patriots cheated. As did the Saints (Bounty Gate), 49ers and Broncos (salary cap violations) Colts (Piping artificial noise into the stadium PA system while the other teams’ offense called plays) and Steelers (documented use of steroids), just to name a few.

They think they are so goood that players don’t matter and they can win w anyone at anytime w Brady;s magic arm and Josh Mcdaniels OC wizadry lol.

Also Belichik’s is supposedly the draft day guru and while they horde picks their D still is middling. How many DB’s have they burned picks on that were busts? Darius Butler, Ras I Dowling, Brandon Merriweather, James Sanders. Johnathan Wilhite Patrick IR Chung, etc

I’m also pretty sure that about 29 other teams and their fans wish Bill was their head coach. Their run over the last 13 years(the Belichick era) is unprecedented.

I wish they would’ve won yesterday. I saw the Ravens come out very hungry and make the plays that win games and the Patriots didn’t but again let me say that I wouldn’t want anyone else coaching the team I love than Bill Belichick.

This is a team that is consistently a contender for a Super Bowl. Even a lousy year brings a playoff berth(2009). I do believe that they need tweaks especially in the defensive backfield and wide receiver. I’m sure Bill will do what he feels is best and come July all of New England will be “ready for some football” and all around the NFL and the sports world the New England Patriots will be considered one of the best teams in football. Until then I’ll look forward to the combine, the mock and real draft and to a great storyline for the 2013 Superbowl.

Until then everybody can spew their nonsensical jealous rhetoric. Those in San Fran and Baltimore can revel in victory and accent their wins.

I guess conference championship games are not big games.

Look at the last several years:

–The “Defensive Mastermind” thing is long gone– it’s even a bit embarrassing to admit you believed that at this point.

– He has avg-to-below avg feel for the game. His mistakes have piled up especially when the game is on the line.

– After the cheating system got rooted out team success dropped quite a bit.

Belichick’s strengths are knowing what he has in Brady and knowing how to exploit the rules of the passing game, plus he is very good at organization and team structure.

Once Brady retires he will likely retire himself. Can’t say I blame him.

They only have to win 3 real games per year to be crowned “World Champions” and they just can’t do it without video cameras.

8 years and counting Billy boy. Better start thinking about dusting off that old video equipment.

The emphasis on Belichicks’ genius is exaggerated. Prior to Tom Brady the man was 1 for 6 in winning seasons. Lifetime pre-Tom Brady he’s 49 and 55. Tom Brady’s record is 136-39 lifetime. Make no mistake… Tom Brady ‘made’ Bill Belichick. His arrogance is solely based on his own ego.

Tom Brady reads the defenses and makes the throws. He carries that team and would be just fine without Belichick.
