I love WW and want him to retire a Patriot. Besides his skills, he has that fierceness about him that is so important in a team’s attitude.
That said, if he wants a bunch of money and leaves, I will wish him well. I don’t get mad when players leave for money as long as they are honest about it.

At this juncture, Wes Welker needs to think about Wes Welker. If, for whatever reason, New England is unwilling to extend a compensation package which Wes deems fair, then he needs to secure such a contract elsewhere. Welker has nothing more to prove to the Patriots. If anything, the Patriots have something to prove to him. Even with a healthy “Gronk” and Hernandez, a Welker-less New England Patriots will only be a shadow on offense of its former self.

Part of me feels Brady simply likes slot receivers and TE’s. Welker is mostly clutch, but its hard to imagine you couldn’t get 80-90% of his production for 30% of the price. Basically, Welker would want more than Brady makes, and 80% of what Manning makes.

Pats need to spend that money on Defense – 2 or 3 good players, not 1 role player.

At age 27, Brady had 3 rings and accepted a 6 yr./$60M deal.
He could’ve held Bob Kraft hostage and everyone in New England knew it.
This season he made exactly the same money Mark Sanchez made, $11.25M.
Even the 4 year/$72M deal he signed was pretty reasonable, considering what Vick and have others signed for.
I get what you’re saying but in truth, Brady’s been signing for less than his market value his whole career in N.E.

Let him go to another team, eat up a bunch of their cap money, and then fade into the wall paper like every other system player that has left the Pats for green backs.

Then the Pats can spend the money they save on some defensive players.

Welker probably has just one multi-year contract left, if that. It would be hard to blame him if he leaves NE and just punches his ticket with any team anywhere that will pay him the most money and someone WILL pay him.

He must be really tired of the lack of appreciation he gets in Boston. I hate the Patriots, but when I watch them play the main thing I always worry about is Wes Welker. The guy is a first down machine and if the Patriots don’t appreciate that then someone else will.

Just saw on ESPN that Tom Brady is now 67-1 when leading at halftimes. Marvelous!!! But what does a quarterback have to do with either maintaining or blowing a second-half lead?
Was Brady responsible for the Ravens’ 21 points in the second half? C’mon. The media’s obsessions with quarterbacks is flatout RIDICULOUS…
The world’s two greatest quarterbacks — Peyton Manning and Brady — are not in this season’s Super Bowl. That should be more than enough proof that TEAMS, not quarterbacks, either win or lose.

Welk has dropped quite a few passes in the last few seasons. I hope he realizes we have a mini Welk in Edleman, so Wes can take a little less money and comeback

The Pats need to remake a large portion of their team, and spending $11m on a WR probably isn’t the best choice. Pats need a new defense in the worst way, as you cannot always come out and try to win shoot-outs. That works with teams that have so/so defenses, but a good defense team leaves PATs gasping to keep matching scores.

For every one drop he has, he makes 3 first downs where he gets absolutely drilled. Hopefully they can find a middle ground and keep Wes around. And, hopefully, they can use Demps or get someone (it’s not Lloyd) who can run a damn deep route.
