ReutersLions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh might have ended up in Hawaii anyway, but it became official last night when the 49ers advanced to the Super Bowl.
Suh will replace Justin Smith of the 49ers in the Pro Bowl. Even if Atlanta had won, Smith’s partially torn triceps would have been more than enough injury to get him out of the game, since many players have gotten out with less.
Suh led all NFC defensive tackles with 8.0 sacks this year, second-most in the league.
Suh’s making his second appearance in three years, the best start to a career for a Lion since Barry Sanders, who made it all 10 of his seasons.

The only reason he’s going is due to being a high draft pick. Lions had one of the worst run D’s this year. Wouldn’t a DT be a major part of that?
An unfortunate side effect of niners getting to the Super Bowl. Hope he doesn’t think he earned it.
Watch out Peyton Manning and Tom Brady!
Do you think he’s already hired a defense attorney over there?
If you don’t think Suh earned at the very least an alternate spot to the pro bowl, you need to turn in your fan card. There are a lot of resources available to better understand why you are ignorant on this matter. Start with pro football focus and branch out from there…
He deserves it, he put up with crap from the media all year and still turned out a productive year. If you pay attention to what he did for the team instead of focusing only on stats you would see that. He was constantly in the QB’s face and was making the RB’s change direction. Unfortunately the guys around him didn’t help out too much
See, Suh, sometimes it IS better to be lucky than good.
Its funny listening to all the crying from fans about Suh. Suh just got a bad rap and he gets bad calls because of it. Hes top 5 dt in the NFL for sure and the way Fairly played this season the Lions will have the best dt duo for years to come! Qbs in the nfc north should take out life insurance policys, cuz Suhs coming and he won’t be gentle!
He should have been voted in anyway..had a great season.
