If he can stay healthy, he’ll get his chance. That being said, they could still use some prospects at tackle. The secondary is what needs help though. There pass defense is awful, it pains me to watch them get killed on 3rd downs over and over.

Yeah that was my thought too. The two of “Mike Sherman’s guys” that started in that Super Bowl were Cullen Jenkins and Scott Wells. Chad Clifton was one of Ron Wolf’s draft picks.

The other 19 guys were all brought in by Thompson.

This is putting him on notice if he doesn’t perform he will be on the bench for the rest of his career. He does have upside but doesn’t have a clue pass protecting. He always leaves guys unblocked or needs help taking on rushers. Without a running game the Packers will always have OL problems. GB offense was very predictable last year.

Run the ball guys and you will see most of these OL problems will go away. Newhouse is not that bad. I think GB drafts a Guard to replace Lang.

Rodgers, Matthews, Raji, Jennings, Nelson, Collins, Got Woodson into town. Not Sherman guys and good finds in undrafted FA like Shields.

TT drafts for scheme. That’s why the Packers don’t run to the FA pool every time someone gets hurt.

When MM came in and wanted zone blocking, so TT drafted as such.

When Capers came to town switched to the 3-4. They go out and get CM3and Raji.

After Sherman’s draft in 04 all the players from the class were out of the league in 2 or 3 seasons.

Sherrod was in at RT for Bulaga (who I’m losing faith will ever play a full season) and Newhouse was schooled badly and they rolled up on Sherrod. I guess that’s one way to save your job, Marshall!

No clue what to expect from DS in the future, with very little field experience, but we certainly know another tackle or two is needed.

Sherrod will take over for Newhouse who is over matched at times. They will replace Lang and have a solid O-line next year. Sherrod did not play much and was a little raw but still has a lot of upside. The Packers will continue to have success and own the North for the foreseeable future. Every year is not a Superbowl year but with our starters and some more defensive lineman the Pack will still beat the majority of what the NFL fields year in and year out.

The right ingredients come in next year and the Packers are back in the Super Bowl, absolutely nothing other than the usual roster turnover happens, and the Packers are still in the upper 10% of the NFC even with a gimpy OL and a defense full of players who’d rather not tackle.

First, lets recall he was pulled from a lot of games because he couldn’t block: run or pass, didn’t matter.
Second, Mc and Don was frustrated at his on again off again performances.
Third, this guy, yes he had a horrendous injury but a year and a half to heal? Maybe in a 40 year old not a yound stud.
Bottom line, this guy did not do the things he neeed to do to get in shape. When his leg was physically ready, IMHO, he was way overweight and out of shape and would not have been ready until the season was over. To me the later is called desire and its one thing to want the pay check its another to want to earn the paycheck.

Good luck with this guy. I hear the work ‘bust’ around the corner.
