Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael’s contract is set to expire soon, but he isn’t planning on going anywhere.

Carmichael got nibbles from other teams about jumping to run their offenses this month, overtures that he turned down without ever speaking to the teams. While he hasn’t been able to hammer out a new agreement with New Orleans, Carmichael said Monday that it hasn’t made it any harder for him to decide to stay in his current position.

“It’s an easy decision for me, especially what’s best for my family,” Carmichael said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “I think it was a unique circumstance this year with just the whole contract thing. This is going to be a tough place to ever leave for me.”

Carmichael has gotten interest for head coaching jobs over the last two years, including an interview with the Bears this year. Generating interest in future interviews shouldn’t be too hard as long as he remains at the reins of one of the league’s most potent offenses. That should be the case in New Orleans, which likely made the choice that much easier for Carmichael.
