On almost every contested reception receivers have a db immediately try to strip the ball, especially in the end zone. It was Lee’s job to hold on to the ball and he let a practice squad rookie strip him. It was Lee’s screw up, not Moore’s great play.

According to one of the stats aggregator web sites that I’m not allowed to link to here, Ravens averaged 5.4 catches for 81 yards per game in the middle of the field under Cameron and 5.2 catches for 59.8 yards per game since coordinator change. Caldwell’s actually really been right side heavy.

Not including the final Cincinnati game, Ray Rice’s touches have increased from 20.8 per game to 22.6 per game.

Boldin (not counting the final Cinci game) averaged 4.5 catches for 63.7 yards per game under Cameron with four touchdowns in 13 games. Since the change, 4.6 catches for 73.8 yards and 3 TDs in five games.

Rice averaged 109 yards from scrimmage per game before coordinator change and 103 yards per game from scrimmage since.

In Cam Cameron’s scheme, the middle of the field didn’t exist. Suddenly with Caldwell, we’re constantly attacking the middle of the field.

but when ben does the same thing its because he is awesome right crown? flacco and the ravens are in the superbowl because they made the playoffs and beat everyone they needed to. did they have some luck on their side…sure. but are they the best in the afc? yes. just deal with it and enjoy looking at your trophies. go ravens!!

There is a third leg of the stool beyond scheme and execution … and that is play calling. Caldwell got REAL aggressive in his play calling in the second half. More aggressive than Cameron would ever get, esp. with a lead. I thought Caldwell deserved the game ball for the playcalling. A player can’t exercise a scheme for what its supposed to be without aggressive playcalling. The second half of that game was one of the best halves of the post-season.

Reeeeeally getting tired of the Rahim Moore excuse. Yeah he made a bad play, but people act like it was blind dumb luck, when in reality Flacco saw he was playing too shallow and took advantage. It wasn’t like he threw a lollipop up and hoped for the best. He knew he could make the play, because Moore wasn’t at the right depth before the ball was even snapped. The Ravens are in the Super Bowl because they deserve to be there, not because of pure luck.

Anyone who actually watched Ravens games (which excludes Florio), knows Cameron was holding the Ravens offense back bigtime. This isn’t a coincidence by a longshot. The Ravens simply did NOT use slants or crossing patterns or the entire middle of the field. Boldin was a non-factor. Everybody in Baltimore was talking about the Boldin being a bust. But in reality, he was just being horribly, horribly misused. Since then, he’s been tearing it up. Even Brees said that Cameron kept him from going to that next level. The same applies for Flacco. Since Cameron is gone? 12 touchdowns. 1 interception. His stats since Cameron is gone extrapolate to 40+ touchdowns, 4400+ yards, and 3-4 interceptions. That’s not a coincidence.

The Ravens put up 500 yards and Flacco threw for 380 the first time they played the Pats this year. They were just so darn inconsistent.

I think Cam does need to update his passing attack but one thing he has always done well is that his offenses always take great care of the football. That has helped the teams he’s been with win a lot of games, Miami notwithstanding.

When you look at it he’s had young QBs really young in their developmental stages.

I think most of my fellow Ravens fans will agree that in spite of Cam’s shortcomings as a play caller, he has always been a classy guy. Never threw his players under the bus and was always the first to take blame (and much of it was deservedly his). Still, a mans character will always be more important than his ability to call football plays.

Referring to someone as a “scapegoat” implies that person took the fall for someone else’s incompetence. Cameron took the fall for his own incompetence. He was no one’s scapegoat. His poor decisionmaking and egomania has undermined his quarterback and his team. They’re going to the Super Bowl, in large part, because Harbaugh finally put what was best for Flacco and his team above his misplaced loyalty to his OC.

People really fail to properly attribute how much chance is involved in winning any given superbowl. Like you said, a couple of routine plays going the way they normally do and the Ravens are in last years superbowl and not this years. People often award far too much credit to the players of winning teams, when in reality it was just a little more good luck or a little less bad luck.

I really didn’t like him when he was calling the plays and so far his firing has been justified but you can’t argue that he’s classy after reading this. Kudos, Cam.
