Ravens, 49ers issue first Super Bowl practice report

The game remains 11 days away, but the teams who will be playing in it have made available to anyone who may be interested a rundown of the injuries that affected the ability of certain players to practice on Wednesday.

Even if one of the teams didn’t practice at all.

The Ravens, specifically, didn’t.  They provided an approximation of who wouldn’t have practiced if practice actually would have occurred. If practice actually would have occurred, receiver Anquan Boldin (shoulder), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (ankle, back), cornerback Asa Jackson (thigh), running back Vonta Leach (knee, ankle), linebacker Ray Lewis (triceps), linebacker Albert McClellan (shoulder), defensive end Pernell McPhee (thigh), defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (knee), running back Bernard Pierce (knee), safety Bernard Pollard (chest), receiver David Reed (thigh), safety Ed Reed (shoulder), cornerback Jimmy Smith (abdomen), linebacker Terrell Suggs (achilles, biceps), and guard Marshal Yanda (shoulder) would have missed the session.

The 49ers did practice, and two players didn’t: linebacker Ahmad Brooks (shoulder) and tight end Garrett Celek (foot).

Limited in practice for the 49ers were cornerback Tarell Brown (shoulder), running back Bruce Miller (shoulder), and linebacker Aldon Smith (shoulder).

Fully participating in practice despite being injured were linebacker NaVorro Bowman (shoulder), running back Frank Gore (ankle, shoulder), linebacker Clark Haggans (shoulder), guard Mike Iupati (shoulder), running back LaMichael James (back), defensive tackle Justin Smith (elbow, triceps), and linebacker Patrick Willis (shoulder).

    Seems legit.

The Ravens didn’t practice because they were too busy whining about the Patriots game to worry about a stupid ol’ Super Bowl.

As John Harbaugh said himself after getting fined for not disclosing Ed Reed’s injury, the injury report has no merit. I’m a Ravens fan, and I agree it’s ridiculous that IF there was a practice, then all these players would not have participated. If that was the case, they might not even have enough guys to practice anyway. Goddell created this joke. John is just playing the game.

Ahmad Brooks’ hand is the only injury that has me concerned. I don’t think it is very serious, but he is an important piece of that defense considering that they carry only a few OLBs.

Ravens choke choke choke! Funny there fans still hating on Steelers when there in SB.

Give me a break! NFL practice is nothing but skull sessions, walk-throughout, and light running with MINIMAL contact…practice reports mean NOTHING these days…

Even though it’s not new, I think Aldon Smith’s injury is more significant to the 49ers D than people think. After having 19.5 sacks through the first 13 games, he hasn’t had a sack in the last 5.

I could be wrong and maybe teams have figured out how to stop him without Justin Smith at full strength, but I have a hard time believing that the guy who reached 30 sacks faster than any other player is suddenly being “exposed.” Anything’s possible, I guess, but Justin Smith has been playing pretty beastly so far this post-season, while Aldon has been pretty quiet. It wasn’t until the 2nd half that the Niners’ D really began to disrupt Matt Ryan’s timing.

Does San Francisco have a football team?

They are very old in Baltimore, they need to rest some this week, injury reports are for gameplanning and call playing, very important stuff, i dont actually know that since ive done neither, but it sounds right by golly!
Jim said he didnt want to give his brother any info on the teams schedule, i think his bro just messin with him now.

Did the Raven’s keep carrying on about the Patriots? I feel like they’re going to keep talking about beating them before the super bowl…

    and way after.

This is a 49er Raven practice report. Why are steeler fans commenting? 8-8 record, reflect on that when youre wearing your steeler snuggie as you watch the Ravens play the superbowl.
