RGIII just started doing knee exercises? Wasn’t his surgery a month ago? Seems like that’s taken a while. I know several people who started doing knee exercises (heel slides and straight leg raises) a couple days after ACL surgery. Unless having the LCL surgery with it sets you back that much.

Dang, that’s gotta be rough. Still pulling for you RGIII

Yes the LCL surgery does set back the normal time frame..it requires no weight bearing exercises(staying on crutches) for up to a month

Having torn his ACL twice it is bound to impact his playing confidence and the type of game he plays.
_______
This "two ACL tears" thing needs to put to rest. He had an ACL repair in 2009. When James Andrews went into Griffin's knee to repair the LCL, he redid the old ACL repair as well. It's a harmless, non-invasive upgrade and safety precaution, like using an extra piece of masking tape to seal a carboard box. On top of that, as so many are fond of pointing out, injuries didn't affect his playing confidence this year (to his/Washington's loss), and though he should come back a safer, more injury-aware player, why would it affect his playing confidence in the future, and moreover, why do you sound so hopeful that it will?

Seems Dr. Andrews was more than hedging his bets with the prognosis. Giving him essentially 50-50 odds of recovering back to his previous abilities.
_______
Andrews clearly gave him more than a 50-50 chance, and the only bet he was trying to hedge is in the minds of impatient fans.

After initially declaring that Griffin will absolutely be ready for by September, he tempered it with cautious optimism, saying that while it's his opinion, as the most renowned figure in the history of sports medicine, that Griffin should be ready to go by September; as AP said, bodies heal differently, and Redskins fans shouldn't bet their life-savings on Griffin starting their season opener.

Lets keep it real. AP did the near impossible so thinking RGIII does the same on a already damaged knee is nuts. Having torn his ACL twice it is bound to impact his playing confidence and the type of game he plays. He’ll need at least 8 months of gruelling physical therapy before he’s ready to take the practice field and that means he misses training camp. Then at least a month or two to get into game shape.
_________
If you look at the interview Peterson says he "thinks" Griffin "can" do it, but who cares what he says, he's "nuts", right?

If you actually read the article, you'll see that what Peterson is saying is [not to compare the two injuries, or the two recoveries]. What AP did was pretty amazing, and his point is that [if Griffin can't come back from his knee injury as quickly as Peterson did or return to peak playing form as quickly as Peterson did; it's no knock on Griffin]. And nobody should hold anything against him for not outdoing or replicating Peterson's unbelievable accomplishment.

RGIII just started doing knee exercises? Wasn’t his surgery a month ago? Seems like that’s taken a while. I know several people who started doing knee exercises (heel slides and straight leg raises) a couple days after ACL surgery. Unless having the LCL surgery with it sets you back that much.
__________
Considering that this site, as well as NFL network and ESPN, reported that Griffin had started movement exercises a month ago; the phrase "has started doing movement exercises," is a misinterpretation of the source.

In no way is Cole reporting that Griffin has just begun physical therapy. The Tweet says that the Redskins training staff is "[now]" video monitoring his rehab. He is already doing movement exercises on his knee. The implied "[now]" applies to the video, not the exercises.

Having torn his ACL twice it is bound to impact his playing confidence and the type of game he plays. He'll need at least 8 months of gruelling physical therapy before he's ready to take the practice field and that means he misses training camp. Then at least a month or two to get into game shape.

Of course if the Redskins are holding back other knee damage such as a torn meniscus, well 2014 looks about right.

Put RGIII on IR for 2013. You can even put him on the "eligible to return IR" if you think he may be ready for the second half of the season.

Gamble that Cousins is as good as he looked in his admittedly small sample size, start him in '13

If he is, flip him for a couple of good picks in the '14 draft.

RGIII comes back healthy in '14, when BTW, he'll still only be 24 years old.

There are teams in far worse situations than that.

Peterson's recovery is nothing short of a miracle.

Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry and Tony Moeaki all came back from their ACL injuries looking good, but it too a while longer.

With a little bit of security in place because Cousins looks serviceable the Redskins really need to make sure they don't rush the kid back.

As far as the comments about this being the second tear on the same ACL, the tear is actually from the old repair failing. I have faith Dr Andrews will do a better reconstruction.

RGIII just started doing knee exercises? Wasn't his surgery a month ago? Seems like that's taken a while. I know several people who started doing knee exercises (heel slides and straight leg raises) a couple days after ACL surgery. Unless having the LCL surgery with it sets you back that much.

Dang, that's gotta be rough. Still pulling for you RGIII
