The signing is a low risk ($600K guaranteed), high reward (All CFL in his rookie season) type of signing.

Too funny:

The Patriots cheated to sign him.

He is overrated.

He has medical issues that will keep him from playing.

The Argos and CFL are lying about his level of talent.

The one thing I did not read was:

Thirty-two teams had an opportunity to sign Armstead. Congratulations to the Patriots for making it happen.

Because Trestman didn’t coach the Argos . . . The CFL isn’t just one team. He had no connection to Trestman.

For those of you asking why Trestman didn’t get him for the Bears. The answer is because Armstead chose to sign with the Patriots. It had nothing to do with Trestman. Coming out of the CFL, he had his choice to sign wherever he wanted.

Tebow might work in the CFL. Spread everyone out for read option runs and on passes the WR get a running start so somebody should be able to get separation

He didnt play for Trestman, so it isnt that big of a deal that he signed else where. I would however speculate that it is possible Trestman would have had interest, but Armstead had already chosen the Pats before the Bears chose Trestman, just a though

Love the questions from Bears fans about playing for Mark Trestman.He coached another CFL team and has been more concerned about getting an NFL gig than securing the best FA in the CFL

He only played in the same league as Trestman, he never played for him as far as I know.

Patriots got a steal. There are lots of NFL caliber players in the CFL, alot have jumped to the NFL in recents years and excelled. Cameron Wake is just one example.

For those who think Tebow would be a good fit in the CFL, that couldnt be further from the truth. The CFL is a big-time passing league and he wouldnt cut it.

This is an outstanding acquisition. Adam Schefter wrote about him deciding on an NFL team a few weeks back and said he is comparible to a high round draft pick. He has been compared position wide to Richard Seymour and can play the 3 technique.

Great addition to the D line.
