Really? All I see since, Mangina left for the M-E-S-S, are a bunch of 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the AFC East from your team. Won nothing? Wake up! Your team is closing in on potentially finishing 4th in the AFC East here pal… just sayin.

Smith and others) – this creates almost 20M in cap space. All of these guys have a younger player behind them to step up so it isnt a HUGE loss. The Jets need to start fresh and draft young talent.

He knew coming in who was going to get cut and ways to create cap space.

A lot of GMs get their “pet projects” that they want to see get playing time, and if the coach doesn’t see eye-to-eye, you get an ego clash….as may have been the case with Tebow last year, and was the case in Seattle when Jason Babin was a pawn in a fight between Tim Ruskell and Mike Holmgren.

This is something that happens with the 31 other team as a matter of course, they all obtain new players that way. He’s going to need something more than that approach to knit together a winning team.

As GM (of the Jets no less) he’s needs to

1) have a clear philosophy for the team,

2) at least pretend to be earnest about fixing what’s wrong and

3) find a way to project something to the public that would signal that the Jets are going in the right direction.

The hungriest players will compete the hardest, win the jobs, and create a hungrier, more competitive team. It also means that if you’re a high draft pick, you won’t be playing simply because you’re a high draft pick, you will be playing or not playing based on how well you do at your job relative to everyone else who wants that same job.
