If The Eagles pass on Lovi or Romeo they are nuts. Romeo is probably the best Def. Coord in all football. How soon we forget The pats great def. Lovi fired after a winning season has always had great def’s. Why would you pass on these two greats who equal a good def. right away. Less points given up. More points scored= at least a winning season.

Really..So Sean Payton won’t do whats best for the Saints because Belichick might get mad?..hahaha..I thinks not and how was Mangini disloyal? Because he wouldn’t let Belichick take advantage of the Jets..Mangini was very loyal to the Jets..the team he coached..good enough for me.

Of course he should do what’s best for the Saints. Where did I suggest otherwise? All I said is it will probably cost him a friendship.

He was disloyal because he was reportedly recruiting players and assistants for his soon to be HC gig while they were on the plane back to NE after their loss to the Broncos in the playoffs. That’s when his and BB’s relationship got strained. You’ll note that BB still has good relationships with his other assistants who left for other gigs. Two of them are even back with the Pats. Not sure Sean would want to experience that type of thing after what he has already been through. Let’s not blame this all on BB either. He and Parcells had a pretty rocky relationship for many years and still worked together ok.

Ex-CAL coach and just-joined U$C defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast would be a good fit for the 3-4. Plus he has experience in the NFL.

Oh Sean, don’t ask Mangini unless you are willing to delete your friendship with BB. Besides that I don’t think Sean wants someone around him anymore who may not be loyal and trustworthy, not a good look.

Go with Romeo Crennel, but the 3-4 switch is a big mistake.

The personnel is not fit for it and they’re terrible in an easier formation like the 4-3.

If Vilma is back, he’ll be even worse.

This is another way that not lifting his suspension until this past week hurts, trying to fill out a staff after his was picked over/guys needed to be let go. All the new hire HCs have already had a week plus advantage. Why in the bleep couldn’t Goodell have lifted Payton’s suspension the day after the regular season ended?

Butler has been promised the Steelers DC job whenever LeBeau decides to retire. The only reason Butler hasn’t left already.

I take it you don’t follow the Saints much. None of the Saints players ended up missing any games due to suspension. Vilma missed a good part of the early season because he was on PUP with a knee injury. He and Will Smith were the only Saints players who were suspended by Goodell, but they never actually had to serve them. Paul Tagliabue eventually vacated the suspensions.

A scheme change is going to be mostly cosmetic until they significantly upgrade the talent in the front seven. But, since they do need to re-build that group either way, I suppose now is the time to make the switch if you’re going to make it. Romeo is the best of the candidates mentioned so far– terrible head coach, but he’s still an extremely effective defensive coordinator. Gotta give the guy something to work with, though. You can only do so much with scheme at this level.

The list goes on and on and on. It’s only limited if you’re looking for a retread failed 3-4 DC. A lot of talented 3-4 coaches out there that just need an opportunity.

I would like Spags as D-cordinator for the Eagles. He was great in the role for the Giants. Remember half the players on the saints were suspended and they don’t have much talent on that side of the ball. Bring him back to Philly, he knows the league, he will run an agressive Jim Johnson style defense which will fit well with Kelly’s agressive offense.
