He sucks but he’s exactly what Mike Brown likes, he’ll play for cheap.

A starter will get released and replaced by Maybin, all for the almighty buck.

I think a good comparison is Wallace Gilberry. Nobody heard of him outside of KC and Alabama fans, but he got 6.5 sacks in less than a full season. With all of the holes at LB, he has a shot.

Maybin was terrible. My guess is he’s one of the first cuts by the Bengals. He wasn’t good enough to play special teams on the Bills.

it doesn’t hurt to sign for depth. Brown’s fan shut up you’re a douche. The Browns are awful. Malaluga was a second round pick.

My guess it is to have an option if Michael Johnson leaves as Maybin will likely be used as a hybrid OLB/DE just like Johnson/Dunlap.

Another Zimmer Creation. He loves the rejects and has been and he turns them into solid players(see Lawson,Reggie Nelson,Terrance Newman and Adam Jones). One more thing to vincentbojackson: Maualuga was drafted in the second round,not the first round.

Wrongo – the Bills drafted him into a 43 defense. It was so bad thats one of the reasons they changed to a 34.

As a Seahawks fan, I think they could have signed Maybin as a free agent and got the same production that they got out of Bruce Irvin at the 15th pick. A lot of solid talent went later in that round.

First I hope this guy loses weight. It was dumb for him to gain weight to “stay on the field “longer.

That 5000 cal per day diet was disgusting to hear about and not good for his career and I think that it would benefit him for Him to be leaner and faster like how he was when weighing under 235.

Hopefully Mike Zimmer sees good things in him and that way he can get the head-coaching job that he truly deserves.

Reggie Nelson had the same label applied to him before coming to Cincy. Zimmer typically gets the most out of these guys (excluding the Taylor Mays project, which isn’t over quite yet)…Maybin also hasn’t been in a 4-3 defense to this point so maybe a change of scheme/coaching will finally turn the light on for this kid. Hell, he’s only 24 and obviously had all the measurables require to be the 11th overall pick. Me personally, I trust in Zimmer to coach this kid up- worst case scenario he’s either depth, or so bad we cut him…Classic Bengals low risk, high reward potential

Very good pickup for the bengals. He got a raw deal in NY and never played after leading the team in sacks the year before. He is still very young and can still become a decent player in the NFL. Still don’t know why the hell the jets didnt use him more.

This dude is a waste of the D line/LB coaches Time.

He will However have the coolest haircut on the team come training camp!!! Cant wait to see what cool Bengal he has shaved into the side of his empty head.

I think they Bengals deserve the benefit of the doubt when it comes to talent evaluation. Say what you will about Mike Brown being cheap but they know how to get the most out of players.

I also think it’s kind of funny how all the haters of Vontaze Burfict seemed to disappear when the Bengals made him their starting linebacker, they’ve received no credit for taking a chance on him. I know another team in their division could use a tough young LBer for the next few years.
