pjlva, if you knew anything at all you would know that the Bucs reworked the fontracts of both Nicks and Jackson a few weeks ago, therebye freeing up the cap room.

And the socalled Bucs fans that claim Freeman is not a franchise QB are ignorant. The man set multiple records this year. So he had a bed ending to the season…the ENTIRE TEAM DID. He was playing with a depleted oline that couldn’t protect him.

His passer rating overall was bad…but when the oline did well it was over 90%. THAT’S what you fail to grasp. People like you are the reason the QB Curse started for Tampa.

The competition will motivate Freeman to either improve and keep Schaub as the backup or Schaub will become the starter while Tampa moves on from Freeman and they find a quarterback of the future.
With 30 million dollars in cap space in free agency upgrades, trading your 1st and 4th round picks in the 2013 NFL draft plus a 2nd in the 2014 NFL draft would be well worth it.
Make the move Bucs.

Good Cap management? More like during the lockout everybody was paying attention to Dallas and Washington unloading dead money but since Tampa is irrelevant they slide by

CCJCSR you are totally correct………Dallas and Washington got what they got but other teams like Bucs and Jags way under spent yet there was no penalty for them

This was the first time EVER they had a 4,000 yard QB, A 1,000 yard WR , and a 1,000 yard RB. Freeman did regress as the season went on and proved he is not the franchise QB they want him to be. Coach Schiano has already stated that he is looking to bring in competition for the starting QB role. As far as selling out goes, the throwback game was sold out and televised this year. More games would sell out if the majority of fans in Tampa weren’t fair weather fans. There’s no loyalty here. Us die hard fans are still going win or lose.

You’re right “tdk24″…why would anyone want to come play in Tampa?

Ok, maybe they do havemillions in cap space to spend this year, but so what…and who cares that the Bucs are young and talented at the skill positions…and big deal that many in the NFL rate Raymond James Stadium as one of the best playing fields in football…and “so what” about that state of the art practice facility that’s one of the best in the league….I’m sure no potential FA’s care that Florida has no state income tax….or that the weather in Tampa is beautiful in the fall and winter….or that luxury custom homes with lavish swimming pools are a fraction of what they would cost in NY, CA or other northern states…and I doubt any Free Agent would ever consider living near beautiful beaches, or being able to take his kids to Disney World, just an hour down the road.

It was never revealed if the “coaches need to go back to college” line was about Schiano or an assistant. Most likely was referring to an assistant. Also, not everyone is going to like the head coach, and every team has some bad apples that need to be weeded out. I predict the “coaches need to go back to college” guy will not be a Buccaneer next season. Go Bucs!
