I’m a local as well, and Dooley is an awful head coach. But it was just as much him being a bad coach as it was/is UT being an overhyped program that has no place in the SEC. Knoxville is where players go who want to say they played in the SEC but didn’t get offers from Florida, Bama, or Auburn. He may actually do okay as a position coach though, and hey, at least you don’t have to wear that tacky orange and sing that god awful Rocky Top song anymore. (It should be noted that I live in TN, and have grown up having this program shoved down my throat, so I know what I’m talking about…Roll Tide)

@paul… unfortunately, by their results… Jerry, Garrett, and the Cowboys have earned every bit of criticism and ridicule for coaching decisions.

Dallas has become one of the most ridiculous coaching carousels in modern day NFL.

We expect that kind of stuff from teams like the Raiders and Browns… but the Cowboys??? Seriously??? The decisions have been awful.

A couple things that I would like to say is this. One who said he hired Houston nutt? He was interviewed. Second thing is his coaching a crappy college team had nothing to do with how he coaches a position maybe he wasn’t a good recruiter cause that’s the most important thing in college football. Finally all of these conspiracy theories of why these coaches are being hired or who’s hiring them is stupid. Yes Garrett better win this year cause 8-8 he isn’t coming back but these defensive hirings have nothing to do with gruden real football fans know that gruden an kiffin had a huge falling out in the end of the gruden era. These moves are to help Garrett win cause ultimately that is what Jerry wants

It seems all the position coaching hires in Dallas have been based on the good old boy network of people they know. Most come from the college ranks with minimal success. None seem to bring anything special to the plate other than they now someone on the staff.

It’s the Dallas Cowboys. Don’t they deserve a better effort at assembling a quality staff?

This actually isn’t that bad of a hire. People expected Dooley to work miracles on the field and with recruitment. Easier said than done when competing with Florida, LSU and Alabama during dominant eras in their school history.

If this is a Jerry hire, it’s no big deal, we already know about Jerry’s football acumen.

If it’s a Jason hire, well, we’ve already figured out that Jason isn’t exactly the top mind oh-so-intellectual Princeton has ever produced.

I would not be surprised to see the Cowboys draft OL Dallas Thomas and QB Tyler Bray given their connection to Derek Dooley when he coached them at Tennessee.
I can see them being picked in the 2nd and 3rd round respectively.
