Eagles haven’t contacted Georgia about Grantham, yet

Grantham

As Eagles coach Chip Kelly looks for a defensive coordinator with “shutoutability,” one of the leading candidates continues to be a guy who has more than a little “shoutability.”

Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has been on the short list since Kelly took the job. But as John Clark of NBC 10 in Philadelphia reports, the Eagles have yet to contact the Georgia Athletic Director, a prerequisite to officially courting Grantham.

Of course, Grantham can still be unofficially courted for now. Then, after the incoming crop of recruits sign on the dotted line in less than two weeks, the official courtship of Grantham can commence.

There also has been plenty of speculation in recent days regarding the possibility of bringing Steve Spagnuolo back to Philly. He served as linebacker coach with the Eagles before becoming a Super Bowl-winning defensive coordinator of the Giants and head coach of the Rams. Spagnuolo was fired Thursday by the Saints.
