this is why players like revis hold out and get money in there prime when they can bec one major injury and ur looked at differently and now hes tradable..when hes healthy hes shut down.. teams do this all the time

Granted, if you guys “let” Wes leave, and then decide you won’t bother signing this years 1st rounder – since you will trade for Revis – that might get you close.

Brady already takes nearly 10m less than he could get in market to play for the Pats.

Saw a report on ESPN today that “the Patriots are one of many teams interested in trading for Darrelle Revis.”

1.) I’m sure they are just 1 of 31 teams that are “interested”

2.) There is only 1 player the Jets would trade Revis to the Patriots for.

3.) I wonder if the Jets would even listen if the Pats offered something crazy sans #12. Pipe dreaming I guess.

I don’t know who is gonna pay anything significant for a 27 year old corner coming off an ACL injury who just so happens to hold out every 2 years for a new contract. He is huge risk. I certainly wouldn’t want my team to give up a high pick for him.

You guys act like this story is excusively about the Jets, when every team has to make tough decisions with the re-signing of stars. Why do you think Peyton was out at Indy? Pats probably forced to let Welker go at 11 mill a year. Jones Drew in Jax, Giants and Umenyiora, evry team has the same issues on an annual basis. Revis is probably going to want 75 million for 5 years, a very steep price for anyone. jets don’t have huge cap issues, can easily get under with the release or renegotiation with several aging veterans. Very strong, young D Line with 2 #1 picks. Good secondary, 3 good OL. Its not as dark as the Haters would lie it to be. You ever notice how 90 % of the fans on here would rather complain about the Jets then talk about their own teams problems? 30 teams are losers right now, so don’t worry about NY. Your team has its own issues.

if mario willams can get 60 mil why cant revis? he completely elimates top wr from the game and changes qb’s game plans, what did mario willams do for the bills?
not saying we should pay him or we shouldnt he should get a 60 mil contract or something that gives him above 10 mil a year.

How do you know what he wants?

The trajectory of sports-news stories is really hilarious. It all starts with one person citing one anonymous source who “guesses” what the story is. Then all these other news organizations simply repeat the report in their papers and web sites without doing any investigation of their own, and before long, the story is treated as if it came down on tablets.

Revis wants 100 million over 6 years. For a cornerback. There is no way that a successful organization can pay so much into one position, unless that position guaranteed touches the ball 30-50 times a game. He is out of his damn mind. C ya later, Revis, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. 16 million in salary a year is what you would pay a top 5 QB, not a top 5 cb. if he wanted 10, maybe….

If I was a GM, I’d try and build a team where everyone gets paid the same. Idea being that everyone is committed to the same end and is putting in equal effort. If it seems like effort is lacking, player is cut. I’d probably end up with mostly overpaid UDFAs, but I’d love to put a team putting forth the most collective effort into play for the season.
