Not only a shutdown corner but a unreal punt returner and a very good receiver. He came up with the biggest plays in the BIGGEST games, NFC championship games and SB. Not to mention a pretty good MLB player. I think he was voted in the top 20 athletes of all time. Revis is great but sorry not in sanders league

I hate to burst your bubble but as far as covering goes (which is the primary purpose of a corner) nobody touches revis, EVER. Throughout his tenure in NY he takes #1 receivers on ANY team and holds them to one or two catches. When he’s man up they don’t touch anything and the thought that one guy can do that is incredible. Just ask Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Wes Welker, Brandon Marshall and basically whoever you can think of. Flynn has contract issues for the cap so it may not be ideal unless he restructures his contract to help make this happen. He could then try to beat out Sanchez in a legitimate QB competition.

Other option is to have Browner with 2nd and the conditional 7th Rd pick. I like the first option better but either would work.

I know it sounds great on paper but Browner would get torn up in the slot trying to cover speedy WR’s inside. Browner uses the sideline and size to his advantage-limiting the WR direction. Inside he would be at the mercy of a Welker or Cruz. Seattle has excellent slot CB in Thurmond if he can finally get healthy. Revis and the contract he will be looking for will be much better fit to a team without a top tier CB. Sanders was the greatest of all time and its not even a contest. Revis he can again become the best shutdown corner in today’s game he hasn’t even reached Champ Bailey’s doing it year after year.

Not being able to franchise him and the player option removes most of the teams leverage. Idzik is no dummy. He can come out whole by working with his old buddies in Seattle. He may deliver Revis to Seattle on a team friendly deal that helps both sides. If he was healthy it would be different but it is not. The leverage I see is that Idsik could cut him right now. The guaranteed money appears to have been absorbed in the cap previously. This would force Revis into free agency with an ACL tear before he is ready. While he would get a contract it is not likely to be what he and his agent are hoping for. Idsik has no skin in the game. It isn’t his contract. He can use Seattle to rework the contract prior to a trade. Everyone wins although not as much as Jet fans or Revis hope for.

He would most definitely get at minimum a first and third if not more. Because if this there’s only a handful of teams who can afford this, both with cap space and draft pics to spare. The front runners will be the browns and dolphins with the dolphins being the most likely suitor. They could give the 12th pic and one of their two 2nd or 3rd rounders and they have plenty of cap room, not to mention a glaring need at cb and a gm desperately looking to prove himself with a big “look at me” move. Unfortunately for jet fans this may get derailed cause of their rivalry but imo it’s a perfect fit, if these teams weren’t division rivals it would be a no brainer.

I would do that deal only if we added a conditional 7th rounder coming back to the Hawks in 2014. If he doesn’t play a given number of snaps the 7th rounder escalates up all the way to a 1st. If he is hurt, the Jets would have essentially taken Flynn for nothing and the Hawks are stuck with the salary hit from Revis who would elect his player option on the remaining years on his contract.

I don’t see hoe a GM could invest so much in a player who is coming off of an injury that normally takes a player a full year to recover from (Please leave AP out of this, he is an exception). So basically a GM will be trading for a CB who most likely be playing around 70-80% to what his level is and gambling he will last the season and that he could sign him to an extension. Not to mention the money that would get him to sign a new contract would be around what a QB makes.

With so many questions about his health. his contract and his history of wanting more money, I just don’t see 2 1st rd picks happening.

Aldon smith, navorro bowman, Justin smith, kaepernick will be due a raise if he performs like this next season again, of course Patrick Willis, the studs on the offensive line, those safeties, Vernon Davis, Crabtree… The 49ers can’t afford him, in a coupoe years they wont even be able to afford to keep the players they already have. And the injury thing, please. This isn’t 1993. Coming back from ACL tears is pretty close to routine now. Besides, the Jets could trade him during the season, by which time the injury question mark will be resolved one way or the other.
