Terrell Suggs uncharacteristically quiet

350x-1 Reuters

When last we heard from Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs, he was telling the Patriots to enjoy the Pro Bowl and calling them “arrogant pricks” and/or “arrogant f–kers.”  (We wish he’d make up his mind.)

But now Suggs is subdued, directing no sound bites of consequence to anyone, including those who consistently have doubted the Ravens.

I don’t really have to say anything to them,” Suggs said of the naysayers, via Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.  “The fact that we’re the last two teams playing says it all.  We’re just going to keep chucking and keep our eyes on the prize.  One more to go.”

They were definitely chucking on Friday — and perhaps close to upchucking.  (Enjoy your eggs.)  Suggs said coach John Harbaugh worked the players hard on Friday.  “With the kind of practice that we just had, you would have never known,” Suggs said.  “You would never have thought that’s the game we were playing for.  We thought it was training camp out there.”

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio talked to John Harbaugh about the practice.  John Harbaugh said that Jim Harbaugh’s team plays like Jim, and that the Super Bowl will be the most physical game the Ravens have played all season.

After that one, Suggs may be too tired to talk.  If the Ravens win, we have a feeling he’ll muster the energy to offer up a few choice quotes.

I wish the game was tonight!

I really think this is going to be a good one. Two hard hitting teams going at it old school.

I have nothing but respect for the 9ers and love watching them play the game the way I think it should be played.

    Go Ravens!!

  17. raiderlyfe510 says: Jan 26, 2013 12:25 PM

Well how is Big brother(Ravens) going to trash talk Little brother(49ers). When it’s a clash of the titans, two elite teams battling for the crown you just respect your opponent and let your shoulder pads do the talking.

  18. mlbbal52 says: Jan 26, 2013 12:26 PM

Steeler fans jumping on another Raven post love it! All the hate for the Ravens is great. Its gonna be a great game..

  26. holahey123 says: Jan 26, 2013 1:01 PM

And the reason is: Ravens respect the Niners, same goes with the Niners respecting them. No trash talk before SB 47. I’m pretty sure it starts with the coaches, but I could already tell there is a huge amount of respect between the two teams. Things could be different after the game however, knowing how Suggs and Anthony Davis are. Hey, but at least it’s going to be trash talk-free until SB.

  27. greglloydrules says: Jan 26, 2013 1:16 PM

On paper the 49ers are better at pretty much everything. No the game is not played on paper, but I think the 49ers will show how much better they are. Kaepernick will shine, Joe will blow.

  28. questforthesixthnotthelast2013 says: Jan 26, 2013 1:18 PM

Ravens dont respect! Its a show folks, they are to into themselves!
no trash talk sucks, but its the fact that the ravens get more coverage, the niners have hardly been recognized all year, they (the media) and former players, now undercontract to be comedic relief on these netwoks, they said the niners got exposed and been tryin to tear all the coaching and players apart!
they remember, i do have faith in that!!!

  29. bostonboy82 says: Jan 26, 2013 1:18 PM

  33. pthepro49 says: Jan 26, 2013 1:27 PM

Big Mouth Suggs is Quiet because he knows the 49ers don’t lose SuperBowls unlike a division foe of thiers who might have 6 SuperBowls Wins-but they also have multiple losses. Plain and simple 49ers dont lose Superbowls, and Suggs is smart enough to know that!

    49ers Faithful!!!!

  34. gizzmonic says: Jan 26, 2013 1:30 PM

As exicution day nears, it’s fairly quiet on “death row” also. Going to the super bowl and loosing is almost worst than not going at all.
    Sincerely Tom Brady

  41. bigbenownsthenfl says: Jan 26, 2013 2:28 PM

FACT… If the Steelers made the playoffs, the ravens would of never made it to the super bowl. We own them in playoffs and beat them with a 3rd string QB in their own house! Facts can be so much fun!

82 37 But you gotta win big mouth or it means just another tee shirt which your team seems to like. Pats and steelers like Lombardi’s …something you haven’t experienced yet…yikes

  43. grandmarnier0013 says: Jan 26, 2013 2:39 PM

All of heard in the last month is: oh the ravens will choke against the colts…blah blah…There’s no conceivable way they will beat the Broncos…blah blah…Tom Brady at that offense will destroy the Ravens…Each time, no respect for the “Ratbirds”.
For all the skeptics, do us a favor and keep on doubting and hating (especially the pats and steeler fans)…cause we love the results.

    bigbenownsthenfl,

The facts are you guys did not make the playoffs, your 1,2 or 3rd strings QBs can get u to the promise land, accept fate, this is not steeler curtain year, if, won’t, had, etc don’t mean Sh$$t.

  47. questforthesixthnotthelast2013 says: Jan 26, 2013 2:54 PM

Watched a replay of some browns championships back when they won 7 of 10. That guy QB’ng was awesome, he threw the long ball like only one guy i’ve seen before; Keapernick!! Kinda sureal the way it floats out there and dive bombs the recievers hands. Ok Joe did that too, but Kap7 has a better arm, like elways, but with a montana touch!!

  48. jjsteelerfan says: Jan 26, 2013 2:58 PM

As as Steelers fan, I applaud the Ravens. The football Gods have touched them. To win the way they did in the last two games reminds me of how the Steelers have won soooo many games!! It makes me proud to see the little brothers of the AFC North finally growing up. They have had the pleasure of playing the Steelers for years and learning how it is done. I for one do not want the Niners to win, simply because I don’t want them to have 6 trophies like the Steelers. Even though everyone talks trash about Ray Lewis, everyone deserves a second chance. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish and Ray has been an exemplary leader since then. Hats off to you Ray good luck and thank you for all you’ve done in the NFL.

  49. pthepro49 says: Jan 26, 2013 3:01 PM

Suggs is quiet because he has a headache from hearing Ray Lewis TALK. Taking all the credit, and talking about how much it would mean to him winning his 2nd SuperBowl, how much he’s given to this team, it’s all about Ray Lewis, and Ray is making sure everybody knows it.

I feel sorry for his 6 kids and his 4 EX-WIVES.

Keep talking Ray-it’s all about getting your 2nd ring, and nothing about all your teammates and coaches getting their first.

    Unfortunetely for the Ravens-neither will happen. 49ers 34-Baltimore 7

You would think the Steelers were AFCN Champs and the Patriots were AFC Champs. I could’ve sworn the RAVENS are both AFCN and AFC Champs?

Perhaps I’m wrong? Steeler/Pats fans, can you refresh my memory?

    You guys just sound silly…

  51. chuckleberry1974 says: Jan 26, 2013 3:16 PM

what does the number of kids and women you’ve had have to do with anything pertaining to football? besides, he acknowledges, supports, and loves all of his children. who cares how he got them? seems like a judgement of a person who is doing more than you are in life. that also seems like you might be a hypocrite. you have no skeletons and live a public life? doubtful.

I live & die with the 9ERS every week & with that being said. My fellow 9ER fans need to understand the challenge ahead & not get ahead of ourselves. In order to win this game the 9ERS must play the best game of our season!!!

Our O-line as great as it is will be facing Ngata who is the best run stuffing nose tackle in the NFL. Suggs who is a run stuffer & even better sack artists & the not enough talked about Paul Kruger who has a non stop motor & forgotten about because Suggs, Reed, & Lewis.

I haven’t even mentioned Ellerbey who is a stud or their solid corners who just make plays & are opportunistic.

They didn’t get there by accident. Give them their props!!! They are scary good. Lets not forget the Ravens will not be intimated of physical football, they have ALWAYS been known to play it.
