John Harbaugh: Terrell Suggs getting closer to normal

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs might be quieter than usual during the run-up to the Super Bowl, but that may be because he’s concentrating on getting his game back to its usual level.

Suggs’ start to the season was delayed by an offseason Achilles injury and he suffered a torn biceps near the end of the season, a pair of injuries that limited the effectiveness of the 2011 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Ravens coach John Harbaugh is seeing more and more signs of the old Suggs starting to peek through, however.

“He’s getting better,” Harbaugh said, via the Carroll County Times. “He’s becoming quicker, faster, more explosive — all of those things. You can tell that [the Achilles] is healing. He’s just playing more like a normal 100-percent Terrell Suggs would play.”

There’s been on-field evidence to support Harbaugh’s belief. After recording 22 tackles and two sacks in eight regular season games, Suggs has come up with 19 tackles in three playoff games. He had two sacks and a forced fumble in the double overtime win over the Broncos, which is exactly the kind of Suggs performance that qualifies as normal as well as exactly the kind of performance the Ravens hope to see next week.

April 2012 – Suggs goes down… Suddenly the Ravens season is over before it begins. Suggs will never be the same player and the Ravens have no shot at the AFCN.

Fast forward to the SUPER BOWL.

Somewhere in the second half of the Denver game he started looking like he was getting a step back. To have Suggs at 80% or so, then having Kruger being the Kruger from the Colts game would be tremendous against Kaepernick. Sometimes you’ll see these young guys who don’t realize what Ed Reed can do when a good pass rush starts forcing throws. That being in addition to Suggs and Kruger’s ability to put a QB on the turf.

gotta give him credit…no matter what you might think of him…the dude can play and to come back from an injury like that in the spring and actually contribute at crunch time – pretty impressive.
That dude Kruger can play too. It will be interesting.

Suggs and Ray Ray are the face of the franchise! A terrible father that holds bleach over his kid’s head, and a terrible father with 6 kids to 4 women that stabs 2 guys!
