I keep asking and I keep not getting an answer. Offense or defense, what does a “quality control coach” DO besides walk around in shorts and scowl at the practicing players??

Quality Control (Offense/Defense) Coaches are responsible for breaking down the Offensive/Defensive side of the opposing team. They review film, break down common plays, and write extensive reports on whichever side of the ball they need to. Harris will break down the Offense each week. Additionally, he will shadow the Defensive line coach in order to gain more experience.

I like it.

It seems that Phil Emery is using chemistry as his main element.

Emery + Trestman hired Peete as their RBs coach. Peete had the same role w/ Raiders when Trestman was the offensive coordinator the year of the Superbowl.

Emery + Trestman hired Cavanaugh as their QBs coach. Cavanaugh had the same role w/ Raiders when Trestman was the offensive coordinator the year of the Superbowl.

Emery + Trestman hired Kromer as their o-line (and o-coordinator) coach. Kromer had the same role w/ Raiders when Trestman was the offensive coordinator the year of the Superbowl.

Mel Tucker was hired as the defensive coordinator. He did a solid job w/ them Jags and should do even better with the Bears. Chris Harris also played for him in Jacksonville.

After listening to Harris on 670AM last week, it seemed like he was leaning toward the coaching route, even mentioning it in the interview, which was about the imminent hiring of Mel Tucker.

Good luck to Chris, he seems like a very good football mind, and likes to do the 'dirty work' that this position will require.
